Sentai Month: My Top Ten Favorite Super Sentai Series

Well the time has finally come, I have did many top ten list for Sentai, but I never did a list of my personal favorites. Now I haven't seen every series so don't flame me for not having your favorite. Also if there is one not on this list you can send me any information on how to find them. So let's start!

10. Liveman
Whenever fans talk about the 80's what usually comes up is Bioman, Maskman, and Liveman. I only finished watching one of the three, but I promise to watch Maskman when I get more free time. Another thing with these three series is that they are known for being dark and I mean dark. There are great members, but I actually only like the first three. The other two are okay, but just never got much attachment for me. Then there was that ending which fans mostly do agree was pretty bad for being very rushed. The filler episodes are okay at times, but it was mostly the main story plots that got me. Overall it's a good series and many fans love it, for me I don't love it as much, but I can easily see why people adore this series.
9.Gekiranger
Gekiranger was a very interesting series I will say. The main hero was very hyper active and you think some of the fans would hate that. Jan was well done as they really made great character moments for him, but that is a flaw as well. Jan did take too much of the spotlight. This is not the worst example of red focus though as the others do get big moments with the other two main getting most. Geki Violet to me really got ignored at points and the same for Chopper. Oh well the series had a nice story along with one of my favorite villains Mele. The action is a big saver for the series as well as the mecha battles are so great. It didn't do much of the clustering that we saw in the series before and after it. The biggest flaw I find with this series though is some of the filler episodes as the comedy for them just hit the ground. If it kept a darker feel which it did for main story plot points, it would be higher on the list. Not saying comedy is bad, but blending them is very hard to do.
8. Sun Vulcan
Look guys a Sentai series that actually had a spy motif and didn't change! Sun Vulcan is a very fun series as it's very fast paced for it's time and it doesn't feel it's lacking anything. Also even though I haven't finished Denjiman I love seeing how this Sentai is a sequel to it. It brings a classic villain back for another go. This series has some of favorite designs as I love how the three members look and their robot is another big personal favorite of mine. It was the first three teamed Sentai and it gave a path for many to follow as this a common trend for beginnings in Sentai. Then that opening, oh that opening theme! Finally as I said for it's time the action was well done and it was more of a comedic series so it got some laughs from me. Sun Vulcan is a classic and the series still shines brightly in the franchise.
7.Shinkenger
Shinkenger was very big for when it came and many fans still go back to it saying it was one of the best during the 2000's. I easily agree with this, Shinkenger shows more of a blend with humor and comedy. There are very comedic moments, but it doesn't hurt the serious feel. I mean Geki Gold is an overall comedic character yet he is the smartest and easily one of the most helpful ones in the team. Now the red focus was here, but not like Goseiger though. It makes sense for the leader to be the main focus and it makes more sense here since it follows a samurai and his retainers. The characters were well used and easily work as supporters so they worked around with the red focus. One thing that bring this series down though were the mech fights. I personally really hated the mechs they were big and clunky, they even moved in odd ways. Overall it's a series that holds a strong story and cast, but the mech action is not that good in comparison.
6. Go-onger
Now you probably know that I love Go-onger. This was my first Super Sentai series so of course it left an impact on me. First I will say that the series is more on the random humor factor. I personally love random humor and with the high energy the series has it works very well. I could never guess what was going to happen so that always surprised me about the series. Also with there are running gags, but they done correctly and aren't just occurring when it just did a couple of seconds ago. The heroes are still some of my favorites as their personalities really jump out. Now the robots did get clustered, but that was closer to the end and it was really only G-12 that bugged me. The villains are fun, nothing special though, but I still love them. Overall the series is more of a guilty pleasure for me and it holds many memories for me. I guess I got some blindness for Go-onger, but I really love for what it is. Go-onger is very humorousness and yes the series does hit dark parts, but they come at good times. So yea I love Go-onger, but it's not in the top five for many reasons.
5. Dekaranger
Now if you're not a fan of police shows this series could work for you or not. Personally it works with me a whole lot. It's a different turn on cop dramas as it still sticks to the Sentai tropes. Now I will agree there is really no big story and in ways that could lose some investment. Each episode though really highlights on the traits and bonds for the characters and that really keeps me invested. Tons of great heroes in this series as Deka Blue is my all time favorite Blue Warrior. Then finally for me this is the second best blend of humor and comedy in the franchise. There are many moments where I laughed too much I was coughing. Going back to the lack of a big story then this connects to most of the villains just being fun to watch. They are criminals and that's it. So there are some things lacking for Dekaranger, but it really saves itself thanks to one of the best casts.
4. Jetman
Onto the beginning of the 90's there was Jetman. This is probably the biggest Sentai still since many fans get interested in it when hearing it was originally going to be the first Power Ranger series. It was not used since it was too violent and boy it is violent. Then the villains called the Vyram and one of the best villain groups as this series holds my all time favorite villain Grey. Each character goes through hard times and learns something from it. There will be many feels for this series as the characters do go through a lot. Then I can't forget about the greatness that is Gai! Oh he is so awesome! Easily one of the most badass warriors. Finally as I said before the Jetman go through a lot and they help each other to go on and continue their fight. It can be dark, but the series is also very uplifting.
3. Boukenger
Ready for an adventure? Well if you want one Boukenger is right for you. Again this is a Sentai that lacks a big story, but with the many villains and character plot points it saves itself from that flaw. There are many character moments as even the villains can have big moments. Bouknger is another series that holds one of my favorite cast members and characters. The villains are strong and they really give a challenge to the heroes powers and morals. The mecha action was very fun as it did start the clustering path, but it's nothing like we have now. Each episode except for the flashback episode, had a big sense of adventure and it helped give something to our heroes. For me this is the best series to get me pumped as there are many high packed moments of suspense and relief. Overall Boukenger is an adventure that never gets boring.
2. Gokaiger
Just wow, when this series came fans were overly happy. I bet now many fans say that Gokaiger should be one of the firsts to watch in the franchise. I would not disagree with that. It's a perfect series that shows what the franchise is. It's a great tribute series as it's probably the best anniversary I have seen in anything entertainment wise. I just got can't hold back on why I love this series with a passion. Another series with some of the best characters ever. Now the villains were lacking except for one, Basco! Going on though I find the villains to be tributes to the older style of villains sort of like how like how Kyoryuger  is with theirs. Some of the best action and mech fights. There isn't much bad with this series except for some parts that are slightly weak in comparison. Each character has many moments and is very balanced out. Still there is one other Sentai series that is even closer to perfection to me.
1. Dairanger
Now this is my absolute favorite. This is the number one best blend of comedy and humor. The best mech action. The best suit action. The best out of suit action. Finally my all time favorite cast. Dairanger just hits me with a wave of positivity. The Dairanger series is the closest thing to perfection except for one villain.... I love each member of the team and Kaku is my all time favorite mentor. Like in Boukenger and Dekaranger each episode can highlight on a character's traits and Dairanger does this very well with arcs. Each character has some arc where they interact with certain characters. Lin and Kou dealt with Akomaru, Souji had to deal with the three idiots, Kazu protected Kameo, Daigo fell in love with Kujaku, and Ryou had to fight his greatest rival Jin. I loved this style of story telling and there are fillers that show more of the character's strong traits. This though is a series that had an odd ending, but it still leaves at a good thought of the battle of good and evil. So that's my list. Now I will have to do an overall favorite Toku shows list at some point, but I am going to really wait for that cause I need to see way more series to have a big opinion on it. Feel free to comment on your favorites.

Kyoryuger Episode 5 Review: A Not So Sweet Delight

In this episode of Kyoryuger we get the first Happy monster of the series, but things do wrong as the monster of the week goes berserk and gives people cavities! Will our heroes teeth get rotten to the bone, or will they somehow teach this monster some dental hygiene.
Well the whole cavity thing is not the main focus of the episode, but I would think having that would be a nice comedic episode. This episode shows the thing I talked about since the beginning. The team is starting to have more issues again as Souji and Ian are not getting along with each other. Now I can see these two having some anger at each other since Souji is more strict and Ian is a carefree guy. Still this could have been resolved if..... you know what I am saying, I'm tired of being a broken record. Even Torin sees that it could take a while for a team become a real Sentai, but again...... sorry having trouble letting this go. So yea the two bicker with each other, but what I did like was how that didn't affect Ian that much. When fighting the monster he uses Souji to count how many times the monster attacks since that will be very important later on. It got resolved a little too fast though and with an easy realization so nothing big for Souji, but Ian got some points for how he was this time.
Going on with Ian as I said before I liked how he kept his carefree nature and still being a caring person as well. We meet Ramirez a past warrior who needs help with his partner. The team suspect that Ankydon is having a cavity problem as well since he had that glow in his mouth. Now for the audience it's very obvious that this isn't the truth since the monster was just made recently and we only saw him make cakes. So yea I thinking showing the monster being born ruined the Ankydon part of the plot, but what about Ramirez. I don't care for this character so far at all. His acting is different... I know he is a foreigner, but I don't find his delivery believable. Also nothing big on his character expect that we learn he is similar like Ian with his carefree attitude. Going on with this we find that Ramirez is a ghost and he cannot do anything for his partner. So Ian is being kind and he actually leaves Souji behind so he can cool off. It's just he has a hard time showing his emotions. As I said I really liked how Ian was as he already being more of a team player, but just having a hard time showing it. Even with him goofing off he still does work. Overall Ian's character got better, but the people who were involved with it weren't that well.
For the villains we finally get to see Canderrilla and Luckyuro finally do something, but it seems that can't even do well for themselves. The monster for the emotion of happiness was a cook who mostly made sweets and making people happy when they eat them. I did enjoy the beginning of this plan since it wasn't hurting people. Sadly the plan got completely ruined as the cook monster goes crazy and actually gives people despair. He gets a strange power that gives people cavities which again is the biggest proof that he did nothing to Ankydon since he just got this power. The design of the monster is interesting and unique and he didn't seem to be a big fighter, but he just goes crazy and yea. I was hoping this monster would fight, but still keep the happiness he shows it would have been interesting to see. We just got another crazy guy though so he isn't that memorable, heck tons of the monsters so far aren't special. Then Canderrilla and Luckyuro just stand around and do nothing about this, making them look completely incompetent.
Even the fights had nothing big except for some new powers, but they just got used and that was it. The new powers didn't have a big thing and one was just used to back the monster away during the giant fight. Now I like that since batteries can be used even with the mechs. Sadly, fire breathe isn't that special since it didn't get a big focus or anything like the usual Sentai. The best part of the action was when Ian and Souji start working together since we see more combinations of batteries. Going on with the monster the amount of beams he has is from the number of teeth he has and they have to wait until he fired all the beams to strike his teeth. So it's like the monster needs to reload and seeing Ian counting them was great. He even messes up and gets cavities. Then him and Souji know about his beams and Souji gets rid of them with his sword combined with Ian's powers. Then Ian uses Souji's powers to finish the monster off. The mech did have a more highlighting moment when the full team are in the robot and a sword is revealed. This is very different since a sword is a weapon a robot would already have. Also it comes from when the shield changes into the sword so it's a change of defensive to offensive. Now I do wonder if the other forms of Kyoryujin will have a weapon change? Overall the last action scenes were more memorable this time since there was much better teamwork and a nice way to make a common weapon like a sword having a reveal.
There was a comedy aspect like the other episodes, but it was off. As I said before Canderrilla and Luckyuro were just being idiots and I was hoping for their first time having a plan they would try to do more. So their scenes didn't make me laugh, it just got me mad at them. What I did like was when Ian got cavities since he couldn't bear the pain so in role call he couldn't do it and kept his hand on his chin. I did get a laugh from Ramirez, but only because his acting was off. I mean we had foreigners in Sentai before like Richard Brown! That guy was great and his acting was very uplifting. He gave good energy and didn't sound odd when he talked. I hope Ramirez will do something like Richard did because I know he is going to be the Cyan warrior so it's common to have expectations for an actual Kyoryuger. So yea the comedy mostly worked better when it got closer to the end like the action.
Finally the episode ends with a twist that everyone saw coming. Ankydon did have cavities, but he is actually being controlled by another monster. The thing is that Canderrilla and Luckyuro didn't know who it was. So does this mean there are different monsters who aren't a part of the Debos Army? I liked the ending since we got some good build up for this villain. I just hope he won't be the MOTW for the next episode. Cause if he can control the dinosaurs imagine what he could do to this team. So again I got good expectations for the next episode.
Overall it's an okay episode. I wasn't a fan of the beginning of the episode since the comedy didn't get me and seeing Souji and Ian fighting each other just makes me think that there could be more struggles and knowing that this could be avoided just makes me mad. Even worse Canderrilla and Luckyuro were doing nothing about the monster going crazy. The monster wasn't even that memorable along with some new powers that were used in this episode. Also there is Ramirez who I don't care for right now since his acting is not that good and he just sounds weird. More of the last things were much better with Ian having a good comedic moment and seeing him work with Souji was well done in the action portion. The mecha fight was surprisingly more memorable than most of the other things in the episode. Finally the ending of this episode leaves at a good point since we got a build up for a big villain. I give it a C since the beginning was hard to get through, but if you did get through it the episode saves itself from being below average.
Next Time: Kyoryu Cyan!

Kamen Rider Wizard Episode 27 Review: YES!!!! (Major Spoiler Alert!!!)

Oh my goodness! We got one big episode today! With Mayu knowing that her sister is a monster and now that Medusa knows that her Gate's sister is around what will she exactly do now? Will it be a lovely reunion or will things end up in despair?
I so need to talk about Mayu first. This is another character who has a relation with someone who was replaced with a Gate, but this time she knows that Misa is a Phantom. What she doesn't know if Misa is still around. The gang did tell her that, but she still has her doubts. She is soon tricked by Medusa and is taken into despair when she finds the truth that her family is gone. The scene gets a whole lot worse when Medusa drains Haruto of his magic powers leaving Mayu into despair. Then it happens, she comes to a full realization and overcomes despair! I was fully surprised by this since having Medusa win would make tons of sense since she is a big villain. Also Mayu was being seen as not a Gate and then having that be the twist and then having another twist that comes to fully surprise me. Going on with Mayu, she sees that Medusa is not Misa at all and what Misa said to her about making new beginnings is what saves her. She takes the advice and will not let her life end by someone just pretending to be her sister. Finally the White Mage appears and saves Mayu and even takes her with him cause she chooses to be a mage, or should I say a witch. Oh please let this happen!
Now with Medusa she does what Lizardman tried to do and actually did it. She drove someone her Gate knew into despair. I love seeing Phantoms using the memories of their Gates to drive people down into the ground. Sora is very right on how they should be thankful for their Gates cause they wouldn't have their bodies or memories. Medusa really has a step up thanks to this episode since last time she was just going to get a Gate and be out in the open. With this she planned things and even used Sora to her advantage like he did to her. Now Medusa herself has failed with taking a Gate into despair so I wonder how she will take this when she comes back, because I can guess she is going to take a break. I will give full credit to the actress then cause she plays two roles and how they shown the twins in the episodes was very well done. The actress really pulls of the evil of Medusa and the innocence of Mayu.
Sora had his little moment for this episode as we get to see more of his speed and teleportation. He can appear at nearly any corner and side. What I love the most is how in his first fight we didn't see exactly how he was getting to one spot from the other. We know fully know that he can teleport to many places and appear from walls. This also connects to how his human form is a fast moving guy who runs on walls. So Sora got a good show on his fighting powers and so can't wait to see when things get more intense, but keep Sora the way he is I beg you! I don't want him to have the Enter issue!
For our heroes they were being beaten up this time. Now I did love how the team protected the first Gate in this arc. They stayed close to the girl and I know she didn't have much for the story it makes sense since the episode was to reflect on Mayu and Medusa. This is a great way to show a struggle and the good news is that no one got killed. I said before on how I don't like characters who are only used for a death scene and this was a great way to use despair. Haruto easily knows what would have happen if she didn't fight her despair. Now I will ask what took Beast so long to get to the scene, but I guess keeping a close eye on the Gate is important. With two riders it's smart to have one rider with one Gate. The heroes did really well and seeing them still be in a struggle was excellent.
Now it's time for more and more questions. We have always been wondering who the White Mage is and we still don't know. Now he appeared before Medusa and Sora even knows of him. So we have a feeling that the White Mage is not with the Phantoms. I am still wondering on what his aim is. What is also holding my curiosity is that if Mages can still fall into despair. Medusa mentioned that when Mayu falls into despair then Haruto will. Also we saw the White Mage's familiar following Mayu so does he keep an eye out for Gates? You think this would make us think of the White Mage as a hero, but still we don't know anything about him. So this character is being well done and I bet his reveal will be big. Finally, he is still more powerful than Haruto so he can still grow to reach the White Mage's level of magic.
The action was mostly at a bigger point when it first started since we got to see Sora's powers again, but in a more clearer view. Hurricane Styles got used for this part when he arrived to help Beast. The two teaming up on Sora was great and they actually got big hits on him. So seeing teamwork is good and before that Beast was getting beaten down by Sora. Then the second part is with Wizard and Medusa, but it was quicker. I like this because Medusa is not taking any risks so she drained him so that he cannot fight anymore. So the fights show more of what the villains can do which is good.
I love this episode a whole lot, I know I love the many other episodes and the series so far, but this is a ground breaking episode. We had the heroes almost lose with a big consequence. The fights were well done with Sora's fight being the best of the episode, but I do like seeing Medusa stopping Wizard. The White Mage still begins to get my interest. Then the best part is that Mayu has overcome her despair and will become a Mage like Haruto and I so hope we will see her later in the series. I give this episode an A+
Next Time: Sora, Kousuke is not a seat cushion

Power Rangers Megaforce Episode 7 Review: You See Any Tears? (Spoiler Alert!)

For this episode of Megaforce, Creepox has had enough with the rangers. So now he is on his own and will try to defeat the rangers by himself. Also there are bully issues in the school so how will our heroes deal with three villains? Also this isn't the biggest spoiler, but Creepox is one of the main villains and I would have the same with the Goseiger episodes.
First thing with this episode it uses two different episodes of Goseiger. Most of the footage is from the aftermath episode for Warstar episode sixteen and the debut of Hyper Gosei Great which was episode twelve. So I do like the mixing around of footage as the series did do this already with the use of Vrax. There are some hiccups though with the mixing around since Creepox doesn't have any armor, but it then reappears when he is in giant form. Then Hyper Gosei Great is called the Ultra Gosei Great..... why? I know the names weren't dead on with the others, but Sea is still close to Seaick. I mean the stock footage still shows the name being Hyper so why call it Ultra? Then there is the very noticeable Datas as he is not a part of the series so yea.... With Creepox I can take that hiccup, but changing a name we can see and trying to ignore a mech is way too big to forget.
What was handled well was the transition of stock to original expect for a lighting error with Gia's and Jake's fight, but I will let that go. The action portion of the show really did get a boost with these nice transitions and I always like to see monster suits actually be used in the original footage. Actually seeing the monster attack the actors really helps us paint the image that it's actually there and not just stock footage. It also breaks that realm of stock footage where you can't imagine seeing the actual actors being the heroes. Megaforce is doing well with this as I can see the American actors actually being the heroes, well maybe that is because I try to get Goseiger out of my mind. Going on with this knowing of scene transitions seeing a clash between Troy and Creepox was great and I think Troy is doing better as an actor, well maybe it could have just been for this episode.
So for Troy this episode does make him look like a better actor not saying he is a terrible actor, but this episode gives him some more points to at least be somewhat more average. I do think it is because of how the episode felt since Troy dealt with two foes who want to be dominant. Troy kept his stance at a bully showing that he is not afraid of him and is not crying. The deadness he usually shows in past episodes works better here since that state of emotionless tells people that he doesn't care. He even does this with Creepox which is an idea I do like. A nice comparison to Creepox as he is the type who likes to see people cower before him. Going on with this the bully characters are a nice callback to Bulk and Skull, just actually being more serious and not goofy. The two end up being nice then because a kid who they picked on them actually saves them. A short little kid saves them as he stood up against Creepox! Kid you got gusts and I like that a whole lot. So there is a anti bully message in this episode, but it is handled very well since it shows people helping each other no matter what.
One final thing to talk about is that Vrax showed up again in his Earth Armor which is actually his Yamajuu form from Goseiger. I do like we have no explanation for his change in appearance and knowing that he uses his normal form in battle as well makes me think if he is planning on his own. I do know that episode eight will give us the debut of Robo Knight which means more Yamajuu footage will be used so how will the Warstar villains be used during this? I will guess that the Yamajuu for this series will be following the leader in Megaforce so it will make it seem like it's still one villain group and I hope we get to see original footage where the different groups meet up and talk about their plans. Overall this episode was very different from the Goseiger episode and seeing that the series is doing more differences does make me heavily anticipate on what will happen later on.
This episode really made me more happier than the last couple of episodes. It is easily a comeback from episode six which was pretty bad cause of lack of originality and bad use of the stock footage. With this we got good use of the suits, nice mixing around with the footage, and some thinking in the mix. I will give this episode a B since as I said there are some hiccups still, but nothing too big like episode three had.

Sentai Month: Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Review

Oh Go-busters how I had to stop reviewing you because of my personal life. All I can say if I kept continuing episode reviews for this series it would have been the same complaint over and over again when the show went into the aftermath arc. So what are my thoughts on the this "spy" motif series, well we are going to find out.
Go-busters follows the story of three heroes who gained their powers thirteen years ago since a virus broke out. This virus was completely out of control and soon a whole group of scientists had to give three kids a vaccine program and leave them so that they can seal this virus away. During those thirteen years these three have been training for the day that it comes back. This foe does return, but he has more than one would think. During his time in the subspace he made an avatar to do his bidding and with the virus' power he can make new robots to attack the city. The virus Messiah though only cares for Enertron so that he can escape from the Subspace and bring havoc to the humans. His avatar, Enter has other plans though as he basically only uses Messiah to get what he wants. Our three heroes have been training for very long and are ready to finally take down the virus that changed their lives and took their families. Sadly there are some bugs with the team as they have weak points from the vaccine program. The leader Hiromu has a fear of chickens and whenever he sees one he freezes up yet his true powers is to go super fast. Ryuji the blue member can overheat and completely go crazy in the battlefield with his super strength. With Yoko the yellow and only female member she needs calories to keep working and if she runs out she cannot move, but when she is pumped she can jump higher than any man possible. Each hero though comes with a Buddyroid to assist them in their lives as they have been together for the whole thirteen years. Nick, a motorcycle robot that has no sense of direction is with Hiromu as he is a good teacher for Hiromu at times. Gorisaki, the overly worried Gorrila robot is with Ryuji as the two never had any struggle with each other. Usada, a over tempered bunny robot is paired with Yoko as the two act like siblings and have constant fights, but they still care for each other. Hiromu is the leader character who at first wanted to do things by himself, but throughout his experience he learns that teamwork is important, more than once. Ryuji is a calm and mature man who takes care of the team like an older brother as he and Yoko have a close bond. Yoko is a very cheerful person even with her constant anger at times. Soon new character arrive like Escape another avatar made by Messiah who follows his orders completely unlike Enter. Jin was a man who was with the scientists and comes back looking the same he did thirteen years ago! He is a very comedic guy who doesn't act his age at all, but to be honest he is also the most serious member of the team who really is important to the plot. His Buddyroid is Beet J Stag who is actually a Sentai warrior as well. He is far from perfect, but that is what Jin likes as the two have little moments of struggling with each other and a deep bond. J can seem like an idiot, but he honestly has a heart of gold at times and does a lot for his partner.
I must have this here since the series has a complete turn around plot wise. This series was having trouble with the core audience so changes had to be made and so the original plot of the series was done in thirty episodes. The rest of the series is an aftermath like arc. So there will be SPOLIERS here so skip this whole paragraph if you want to. So Messiah was defeated and it seemed everything was over, but Enter and Escape are still alive. Enter uses these cards that have Messiah's powers in them as he wants to revive Messiah by getting data on human emotions since Hiromu a human defeated him in combat. Enter is doing the same he did, but is much more power hungry as he shows that he is aiming for power. Escape is different as she wants to protect Messiah and she knows Enter will only use him while she wants Messiah to rule. So our heroes fight new Metaroids that are made by these cards as they get data from certain human emotions. So the fight continues as our heroes made big sacrifices to just stop Messiah so they want to make sure that Enter and the rest of the Vaglass are fully destroyed.
Cocky villain is changed into a power hungry villain..... *sigh*
Pros- The first thirteen episodes are probably the best you will get from the series. I reviewed those and not every episode from their is a true masterpiece, but they keep honest with the theme they were playing with. These episodes had a huge motif of spies and teamwork as the team thought of many plans to try to counter Enter's. The characters in the first half of the show are completely fine as they are. Hiromu did act more like a solo hero, but he was starting to open up with the others. Ryuji and Yoko were already very close so they have some of the best moments in the series. I love their sibling like bond it was a lot of fun and the show really put a lot of emphasis on this. Jin was another really fun character as I said he can be very funny and yet very serious and essential, but that changes. J is a pure comedic character and even when I didn't enjoy an episode fully he got my smiling or laughing. Then as I said before J does have some shining moments other then comedic ones. Enter could have been one of my favorite villains since in the first part of the show he was a whole lot of fun. He was smart and always had the team in a corner, his plans were near flawless. Now he does keep his genius ideas, it's just how they executed him later was disappointing. The action portion of the show stayed the same luckily as this part of the series didn't have many flaws. The suit action was very well done with great stunts and nice looking effects. I was really surprised on what was done in terms of action as we got some unique moments thanks to the heroes superpowers. I will still say this, the mecha action for this show was some of the best in the franchise. They went back to some basics and improved on them with a great mix of effects. Each of the mechs had importance and could fight on their own with no problems and then when they combine they make powerful robots. The last thing I loved from this series was the designs, I love how the suit for the Buster's looked. The mechs even looked amazing with the Ace being one of my favorite robots of the franchise. Sadly even with pretty effects and great designs there are many story elements that keep the show down.
I so can't wait for this!
Cons- Messiah, I was so hoping for him to be much better. He was completely out of control and had so much power that Enter had to use his trickery to use him. I was expecting for Messiah to be gaining intelligence since he did make Escape on his own when Enter was failing and he made Escape more loyal to him. I was expecting for Messiah to soon be able to overcome Enter and find be the big villain he should have been. The series had to rush the first part though so Messiah was only seen as a big toddler. Escape was a villain that barely had anything, she was plain and boring. She really only a good moment when she was protecting Messiah from Enter. They even tried forcing a rivalry with her and Ryuji as it really got nowhere. The series completely drops a lot of things including the spy theme it had for a while. You will completely forget about Enertron as it will have barely any importance. I mean the whole series in a nut shell can be jokes about "Remember when Go-Busters had....." Going on with that it's mostly because of the re-writing and the aftermath arc. So many things got ruined in this arc of the series. First they completely change Enter to a power hungry villain as he just got too crazy and not in the good way like Kamen Rider Ouja. Enter used what he had, but now they made him a villain who gets what he wants to use. There are also so many things forced into the series like a new mech which the effects for are terrible. There are even power-up forms and they do work with the teamwork motif, but they just make Jin and J useless. Going on with that Jin's and J's importance with the plot only comes near the end of the aftermath arc. There was like one other episode before that where J was trying to do something for Jin and another where we learn more about Jin. So they basically get two episodes for the rest of the series. The whole focus changes as you can tell as Hiromu steals the spotlight as the series feel way too single hero like. Then with all the new things added some effects for the fights are terrible as they added way too many new things and wasted their budget. The series also goes through the Goseiger issue with having too many climaxes making the real climax weak in comparison since we had an ending for the first arc in episode thirty. Finally the biggest thing that gets me about this series is how they repeat so many of the same messages. Even the beginning did this with Hiromu accepting teamwork and it is brought up again in the aftermath since Hiromu tries to do things on his own. That is not the only message they repeat as the sacrifice that was made in the first arc comes up way too much and our heroes should know this already. It is done again in the end of the series and yes it's sad no matter what, but the heroes already know about sacrifices.

Honestly, the most disappointing villains for me in a Sentai

One more thing is that the series has a whole group supporting them. Why am I just mentioning them now since they are the most ignored of the whole series! The series does give these three characters their moments, but in reality they do their job and that is it.
Overall- This series is really split among the fanbase. It's a real love or hate it relationship and when looking back at this series I am in the middle sort of. As I said if the series actually did end at episode thirty I would probably give it a B-. It was a fun series to watch as Enter was great during this and a lot of things were still flawed, still not terrible though, but the aftermath arc just completely ruins the series. To be honest I was thinking this wouldn't be my least favorite Sentai, but when doing this review it probably is. I mean it completely abandons on what the series was originally trying to do. It completely ignored many of it's characters just so that Hiromu could get even more of the spotlight. The series has a downgrading effect cause at a certain point the series just keeps doing down which is surprisingly near around when I stopped doing the episode reviews. There are still good moments, but when you reflect it for the overall feeling it makes me sad. I saw good potential for this series since it was going back to the old ways when adding many new things. There were even twists to avoid cliffhangers, but then the series does them anyways later on. I will say this mission was not a complete failure as I give Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters a D.
It does hurt me to bash on this series though since I had no problems with the cast. It's just so many things went wrong and I cannot ignore it. I thought I was going to give this series a C- at best, but I just couldn't. There are way too many flaws and it just makes me sad. I really hope I can see some of these actors return for another toku or some other show since they deserve better. If you want to watch the series I highly recommend just watching the first thirty cause the other episodes just gives a bad taste in your mouth.

Kyoryuger Episode 4 Review: A True Zyuden Sentai

In this episode we get the fifth member's focus episode as his past comes back and will this be the moment to get him on the team?
For the black member of the team his character is probably my least favorite. His playboy like style is okay and with getting angry like he did in this episode just makes me think of Gai from Jetman. Ian to me is just a watered down Gai and doesn't have many different qualities. He even has a little anger towards Daigo which again just screams Jetman heck when the two start to get together it's just another reminder. I know it's a way of referencing, but seeing a character be exactly like another just makes me want to watch the other series since Jetman did the playboy character with Gai so much better. Now this is his first focus episode and there are parts of his story I really like already. I mostly like his past of being a researcher and then having a monster attack him and his friend who is played by Gunpei (Go-on Black). The monster killed his friend when he missed the shot, but I was expecting that he accidentally shot him, it would make the story better since it makes sense that he would blame himself for the death of his friend. With this the monster just dodge the bullet. Overall I mostly like the character's past more than his traits, but I hope Ian will get better along the way.
Daigo keeps being a good leader since this time he actually finds out who Ian is before he reveals himself to the team. It shows that he pays attention and again this proves that Daigo is much smarter than he appears to be. He is very brave and sometimes that mean seem stupid and he doesn't know about a proper duel, but he easily knows how to talk to people and motivate them to do more that they could imagine. He even has a great uplifting personality that can bring some good laughs for the series. I am easily liking Daigo a lot as I hope he can keep this up even though the team is now fully together.
Now for a little rant right here. The team is now fully together which is great, but this could have been done much earlier plot wise. Torin sees that the team is together and it seems he wanted this so why didn't you have the team know each other? I can take hiding your identities cause of family, but from the actual team just makes things complicated. They could have easily done these focus episodes even with the team knowing each other since with Ian he has a grudge with the MOTW, with Shouji his father was very strict and seeing him use swordplay like he does made him angry, Amy had to keep her image since she is part of some high class family, and Nobuhara couldn't forgive himself for having his niece get hurt and having his own sister hate both heroes and villains. This is more personal for me, but I know I am not the only one who feels this way.
Going on with another disappointing element was the MOTW. I loved his theme and personality, but he didn't feel fully used. The monster had a phantom thief motif and every time he dodged an attack you hear a harp play, that just gave me too much delight than I thought I would have with him. He proved to be a big challenge for the team and then when they become one they easily take him out easily. To be honest it was just Red and Black who faced him at that point and they quickly went to the team finisher. Then his giant fight went too quickly. For a monster who is actually connected to a bug key point of the series as we learn that Ian and his friend found something at the ruins they were at. This is brought up when Sorrow is talking about his favorite solider being killed as he looks at some type of jewel. Even though this monster was very cool looking and was powerful, this episode just went too fast and didn't have enough time for anyone, but Daigo and Ian.
With the action it was good, but at the end it went by way too fast. I liked the first fight when the team struggled and at first seeing Black jump around. The second fight used the bikes for a short moment and then it ended already when Black tried to use the Kentrospiker and messed up. There was a great out of suit fight as I loved seeing the heroes having this struggle while fighting without their powers. I still have to ask though why they didn't use their guns since Ian does. The guns still have fire power on them and the four just use brute strength and heck Souji was using a wooden sword when we already saw that he used a real sword on his own. Then the fight where the team was together had too many quick moments and unlike the previous episodes they leave at unmemorable moments. The team finisher with Kentrospiker was really cool as it reminds me of Gaoranger's weapon, but fusing the methods of Go Go Five's attacks. The mecha fight was pretty cool with Kyoryujin Western as the shooting reminds me of Dekaranger and seeing the team use their fingers as guns is fun. Too bad it went by way to quickly again.
This episode was just way too fast and the previous episodes did have this fast pace, but it still had much better focusing. With this they put a little too much and it didn't play out that well. The fights were good it just went by too fast like the mecha fights to be anything memorable. Also I am not a fan of Ian's character as I hope he can be something somewhat more different and his plot point really had no big difference of method. I would give this episode a C- an episode that can be good at points, but as a whole and connecting it to the other episodes, it doesn't hold up that well.

Kamen Rider Wizard Episode 26 Review: School for Wizards (Spoiler Alert!)

In this episode of Kamen Rider Wizard we now see that Medusa is finally taking a task on her own. She finds a Gate at the school, but there is more than a Gate there as our heroes find Medusa in a school outfit?
The first thing to talk about is the confusion between this problem of Medusa in a school. Now in the beginning, Kousuke had a hi-jinks moment where he tried to chase down the girl. He looks around and scares many high school girls and after a fight with Medusa he does find the other girl. This leads to him being arrested since he was terrorizing a school girl and shoved a cop down to the ground. It was a good funny moment as I love this running gag of the gang getting arrested. So far we got three people, Haruto, Rinko, and Kousuke. Then going on with the confusion of Medusa and the other girl makes tons of sense. If you saw one of your biggest foes right after knowing an attack was just made you would think that cute girl could actually be a monster. So this plot point goes into some more comedy, but before I go into the other comedic parts I will talk about the girl who is confused to be Medusa.
This character is not in fact Medusa of course, it's actually Misa's, the Gate that was soon replaced by Medusa, sister. Her name is Mayu and we see that she is more on the gentle side. We learn about her throughout this episode. Now hearing her story doesn't help with the confusion since she came from another area. It wasn't said exactly where she is from, but again when Haruto hears about this information it doesn't help his thinking. Later on we find out everything since Rinko looked up information when she heard from Kousuke about Medusa at a school. She finds out about that Mayu is the sister and she is very shocked to see her sister become a monster before her eyes. I can tell this is going to build up to something great since this is like in episode fourteen and fifteen when there was a Phantom who used his Gate's memories to an advantage. If Medusa told that Phantom to use that as a way to get a Gate there is no doubt she is going to do it as well. Overall I have high hopes for both of the sisters as Medusa can easily trick her and she is very powerful and then Mayu can easily be broken down when she learns more.
Now onto how Haruto got in the school. He used the Dress Up Ring to get a school outfit. I love seeing a ring like that getting used for another time. It's like the Sleep Ring, it has more uses than one would think. I was thinking Dress Up was only for the fancy suit and top hat. I would have to ask though couldn't Haruto use the ring for Shunpei then since we know rings on other people's hands can still work. It would have avoided the whole cross dress scene. Yup, Shunpei pulls off a Phillip on us and boy it's equally as hilarious. Shunpei had so much confidence when he pulled the look off and I have to ask, how does he pull it off? I mean he has a better figure than some girls I know. All that he needs is to swap sexes and change that face and he would be a much better girl. I have to ask how he found the uniform, but again those details don't need to be completely detailed. Going on with this we saw some more comedic moments as the two try not to get spotted by Mayu. Shunpei had a loud scream when he got spotted and then Haruto had to use a shoe like it was a phone. So I had a good amount of laughs with this episode.
Well for this episode there wasn't too much meat on the bone. So I am already moving onto the action portion. The first fight was with Kousuke and Medusa and we see more of Dolphi and Falco as it was used with the Dice Saber. Dolphi had the six and then the bad luck strikes again as Falco gets a one. I am actually impressed with how Beast dealt with Medusa. He got a big hit on her, but his bad luck strikes again as I said before. Then later on it was a fight with Medusa and Wizard. She summons Ghuls which soon leads to Wizard using all the dragon forms once more... I know it's a strong spell, but it has been used a little too much. It did get some creativity thanks to the new song and seeing each form fight off a group of Ghuls so there was always something to look at. Then Beast came and then it ended about at that part since Rinko came along. So the action doesn't seem as much, but it did get some little spices here and there.
I guess I can talk about Medusa in more depth since this is her focus episode and how she is getting along with Sora right now. She has no trust for him what so ever and since the last time she was used by him she wants to do things on her own now. I bet she had a talk with Wiseman about the most recent failure and she was then decided to go find a Gate. Sora now is watching over her and is having fun seeing what develops. I still love this playful part of Sora and even when he's not getting into the action he still gives a lot to make the episode more enjoyable. Also I love seeing Medusa taking on a plan as she did attack before, but this time she is the only one. I will say I am slightly disappointed that she really went straight for the Gate like some of the usual Phantoms, but I guess she is getting tired of things so she is going for a full assault.
It's another episode I enjoy a lot. It is easily building up to something great with Mayu and Medusa since who knows how this could change things. Who knows Medusa could change targets now. The comedy was well done with Kousuke messing up and then Shunpei and Haruto trying to hide themselves. The action wasn't the best, but not bad just didn't leave a big impression like some of the past fights. I still loved the idea though as things did feel more basic, but in a way that is good since how Haruto gets in the school is more spy themed than most of Go-busters. I will give this the first B+ since as I said it was more basic, but the idea is very good and I know it will build up to something with a heavy impact.
