Sentai Month: Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Review

Oh Go-busters how I had to stop reviewing you because of my personal life. All I can say if I kept continuing episode reviews for this series it would have been the same complaint over and over again when the show went into the aftermath arc. So what are my thoughts on the this "spy" motif series, well we are going to find out.
Go-busters follows the story of three heroes who gained their powers thirteen years ago since a virus broke out. This virus was completely out of control and soon a whole group of scientists had to give three kids a vaccine program and leave them so that they can seal this virus away. During those thirteen years these three have been training for the day that it comes back. This foe does return, but he has more than one would think. During his time in the subspace he made an avatar to do his bidding and with the virus' power he can make new robots to attack the city. The virus Messiah though only cares for Enertron so that he can escape from the Subspace and bring havoc to the humans. His avatar, Enter has other plans though as he basically only uses Messiah to get what he wants. Our three heroes have been training for very long and are ready to finally take down the virus that changed their lives and took their families. Sadly there are some bugs with the team as they have weak points from the vaccine program. The leader Hiromu has a fear of chickens and whenever he sees one he freezes up yet his true powers is to go super fast. Ryuji the blue member can overheat and completely go crazy in the battlefield with his super strength. With Yoko the yellow and only female member she needs calories to keep working and if she runs out she cannot move, but when she is pumped she can jump higher than any man possible. Each hero though comes with a Buddyroid to assist them in their lives as they have been together for the whole thirteen years. Nick, a motorcycle robot that has no sense of direction is with Hiromu as he is a good teacher for Hiromu at times. Gorisaki, the overly worried Gorrila robot is with Ryuji as the two never had any struggle with each other. Usada, a over tempered bunny robot is paired with Yoko as the two act like siblings and have constant fights, but they still care for each other. Hiromu is the leader character who at first wanted to do things by himself, but throughout his experience he learns that teamwork is important, more than once. Ryuji is a calm and mature man who takes care of the team like an older brother as he and Yoko have a close bond. Yoko is a very cheerful person even with her constant anger at times. Soon new character arrive like Escape another avatar made by Messiah who follows his orders completely unlike Enter. Jin was a man who was with the scientists and comes back looking the same he did thirteen years ago! He is a very comedic guy who doesn't act his age at all, but to be honest he is also the most serious member of the team who really is important to the plot. His Buddyroid is Beet J Stag who is actually a Sentai warrior as well. He is far from perfect, but that is what Jin likes as the two have little moments of struggling with each other and a deep bond. J can seem like an idiot, but he honestly has a heart of gold at times and does a lot for his partner.
I must have this here since the series has a complete turn around plot wise. This series was having trouble with the core audience so changes had to be made and so the original plot of the series was done in thirty episodes. The rest of the series is an aftermath like arc. So there will be SPOLIERS here so skip this whole paragraph if you want to. So Messiah was defeated and it seemed everything was over, but Enter and Escape are still alive. Enter uses these cards that have Messiah's powers in them as he wants to revive Messiah by getting data on human emotions since Hiromu a human defeated him in combat. Enter is doing the same he did, but is much more power hungry as he shows that he is aiming for power. Escape is different as she wants to protect Messiah and she knows Enter will only use him while she wants Messiah to rule. So our heroes fight new Metaroids that are made by these cards as they get data from certain human emotions. So the fight continues as our heroes made big sacrifices to just stop Messiah so they want to make sure that Enter and the rest of the Vaglass are fully destroyed.
Cocky villain is changed into a power hungry villain..... *sigh*
Pros- The first thirteen episodes are probably the best you will get from the series. I reviewed those and not every episode from their is a true masterpiece, but they keep honest with the theme they were playing with. These episodes had a huge motif of spies and teamwork as the team thought of many plans to try to counter Enter's. The characters in the first half of the show are completely fine as they are. Hiromu did act more like a solo hero, but he was starting to open up with the others. Ryuji and Yoko were already very close so they have some of the best moments in the series. I love their sibling like bond it was a lot of fun and the show really put a lot of emphasis on this. Jin was another really fun character as I said he can be very funny and yet very serious and essential, but that changes. J is a pure comedic character and even when I didn't enjoy an episode fully he got my smiling or laughing. Then as I said before J does have some shining moments other then comedic ones. Enter could have been one of my favorite villains since in the first part of the show he was a whole lot of fun. He was smart and always had the team in a corner, his plans were near flawless. Now he does keep his genius ideas, it's just how they executed him later was disappointing. The action portion of the show stayed the same luckily as this part of the series didn't have many flaws. The suit action was very well done with great stunts and nice looking effects. I was really surprised on what was done in terms of action as we got some unique moments thanks to the heroes superpowers. I will still say this, the mecha action for this show was some of the best in the franchise. They went back to some basics and improved on them with a great mix of effects. Each of the mechs had importance and could fight on their own with no problems and then when they combine they make powerful robots. The last thing I loved from this series was the designs, I love how the suit for the Buster's looked. The mechs even looked amazing with the Ace being one of my favorite robots of the franchise. Sadly even with pretty effects and great designs there are many story elements that keep the show down.
I so can't wait for this!
Cons- Messiah, I was so hoping for him to be much better. He was completely out of control and had so much power that Enter had to use his trickery to use him. I was expecting for Messiah to be gaining intelligence since he did make Escape on his own when Enter was failing and he made Escape more loyal to him. I was expecting for Messiah to soon be able to overcome Enter and find be the big villain he should have been. The series had to rush the first part though so Messiah was only seen as a big toddler. Escape was a villain that barely had anything, she was plain and boring. She really only a good moment when she was protecting Messiah from Enter. They even tried forcing a rivalry with her and Ryuji as it really got nowhere. The series completely drops a lot of things including the spy theme it had for a while. You will completely forget about Enertron as it will have barely any importance. I mean the whole series in a nut shell can be jokes about "Remember when Go-Busters had....." Going on with that it's mostly because of the re-writing and the aftermath arc. So many things got ruined in this arc of the series. First they completely change Enter to a power hungry villain as he just got too crazy and not in the good way like Kamen Rider Ouja. Enter used what he had, but now they made him a villain who gets what he wants to use. There are also so many things forced into the series like a new mech which the effects for are terrible. There are even power-up forms and they do work with the teamwork motif, but they just make Jin and J useless. Going on with that Jin's and J's importance with the plot only comes near the end of the aftermath arc. There was like one other episode before that where J was trying to do something for Jin and another where we learn more about Jin. So they basically get two episodes for the rest of the series. The whole focus changes as you can tell as Hiromu steals the spotlight as the series feel way too single hero like. Then with all the new things added some effects for the fights are terrible as they added way too many new things and wasted their budget. The series also goes through the Goseiger issue with having too many climaxes making the real climax weak in comparison since we had an ending for the first arc in episode thirty. Finally the biggest thing that gets me about this series is how they repeat so many of the same messages. Even the beginning did this with Hiromu accepting teamwork and it is brought up again in the aftermath since Hiromu tries to do things on his own. That is not the only message they repeat as the sacrifice that was made in the first arc comes up way too much and our heroes should know this already. It is done again in the end of the series and yes it's sad no matter what, but the heroes already know about sacrifices.

Honestly, the most disappointing villains for me in a Sentai

One more thing is that the series has a whole group supporting them. Why am I just mentioning them now since they are the most ignored of the whole series! The series does give these three characters their moments, but in reality they do their job and that is it.
Overall- This series is really split among the fanbase. It's a real love or hate it relationship and when looking back at this series I am in the middle sort of. As I said if the series actually did end at episode thirty I would probably give it a B-. It was a fun series to watch as Enter was great during this and a lot of things were still flawed, still not terrible though, but the aftermath arc just completely ruins the series. To be honest I was thinking this wouldn't be my least favorite Sentai, but when doing this review it probably is. I mean it completely abandons on what the series was originally trying to do. It completely ignored many of it's characters just so that Hiromu could get even more of the spotlight. The series has a downgrading effect cause at a certain point the series just keeps doing down which is surprisingly near around when I stopped doing the episode reviews. There are still good moments, but when you reflect it for the overall feeling it makes me sad. I saw good potential for this series since it was going back to the old ways when adding many new things. There were even twists to avoid cliffhangers, but then the series does them anyways later on. I will say this mission was not a complete failure as I give Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters a D.
It does hurt me to bash on this series though since I had no problems with the cast. It's just so many things went wrong and I cannot ignore it. I thought I was going to give this series a C- at best, but I just couldn't. There are way too many flaws and it just makes me sad. I really hope I can see some of these actors return for another toku or some other show since they deserve better. If you want to watch the series I highly recommend just watching the first thirty cause the other episodes just gives a bad taste in your mouth.

Update: Go-busters

I am very behind on Go-busters and with my classes, work, and soccer it's very hard to get back on track. I am not even watching the episodes it's getting that bad. I hate to do this, but I think I could have to stop on constant episode reviews for Go-busters. I could do a review here and there for certain parts like the introduction of Escape, but I am too far behind and I think it's becoming too much of a chore to do this. I will do Wizard reviews though since it just started. I will easily do the next sentai series constantly, but because I am too far behind the constant episode reviews for Go-busters is at an end. It may seem lazy, but this is my first year of college so I just want to focus on one series and I am more of a fan of Kamen Rider. So it's opposite of when I started when I didn't do OOO, but Gokaiger. The review for episode one of Wizard will be coming soon I promise you that.

Go-Busters Episode 16 Review: Friend or Foe (Spolier Alert!)

In the last episode Jin and J stole a large amount of Enertron and beginning the episode is the team thinking if they are actually an allies or not. Ryuji is also still stuck on the idea if it's him or not because he hasn't aged in the last thirteen years. One thing for sure is that Jin has escaped from the sub dimension, but how? Soon J is spotted as he tries to get into the Buster's base. He is knocking on one of the secret doors, but Jin isn't with him. Hiro is sent out to confront him and before anything can happen J faints from not having enough Enertron. He is soon taken into the base and given Enertron to recharge himself, but why did he not get any since he stole tons of it last time. The team wonders this and J says it was for Jin? J is asked more questions about Jin and J responds saying that he is Jin and that he came from the sub dimension. Other than that J doesn't know much else since he doesn't need to worry about things that don't involve him. He leaves, but the team follow him hoping they can find Jin. Going to enter he is thinking about the connection between the new Busters and the leak of Enertron. While looking at some footage he sees that something other than a Megazord was transported which explains how those two escaped the sub dimension. He wants to locate the new heroes and he does so by creating a new droid from a satellite. The peak of Enertron levels are caught by the base and Ryuji and Yoko go to take care of it. Hiro is now by himself and he is soon spotted by Jin and there he asks if everyone else is alive in the sub dimension. While Blue and Yellow are fighting Jin talks about the incident thirteen years ago and he was actually ticked off by the decision made. Many others including him were dragged into the situation just for someone's heroic act. Hiro loses his temper quickly and a fight ensues with Jin. If Hiro can defeat Jin in battle then he will talk more about the sub dimension. After the two transform the droid who got away from Ryuji and Yoko soon finds his location. Back to the fight and Jin is easily winning even when Hiro thinks of good counters. Their fight is interrupted by Enter and the droid. The droid uses homing missiles to attack Hiro and he barely dodges the first one. Soon Jin plays risky and gets the missile to target him as he jumps right for Enter as they both vanish in the explosion. The team thinks that Jin is dead as Enter comes back, but then J comes out and summons Jin? We then find out that the Jin in the real world is just an avatar like Enter and J is the marker for Jin. This means that both Enter's and Jin's body is in the sub dimension. After a group transformation and role call, the Megazord arrives, but Enter makes a change of plans as he makes it attack the team. Red gets into the Ace  and tries to fight it. Under's Beet's command Stag summons two new Buster machines! Blue and Yellow finish the droid with a duo special buster finisher and the Ace finishes the Megazord. Jin soon explains that he doesn't know about anyone else in the sub dimension since Jin was separated when he was transported in. The team still has hope though as Jin gives the team an old music box that was in the lab thirteen years ago.
Again I am very impressed with the new characters. Having Jin being an avatar keeps the mystery of humans in the sub dimension. Jin could be the only one all we know and it's still unclear if humans can enter or leave the sub dimension. It makes sense since J was a robot so it wasn't hard for him to sneak through. This can make things risky for Jin since Enter now knows the truth as well. I wonder if Enter was originally a human who was in the lab since he is also an avatar. Having Jin around just makes me think more of the sub dimension and his character didn't put any plot holes in the mystery as well. I was really surprised how Jin just went suicidal and jumped to Enter with a missile follow him. It definitely got a shock out of me that's for sure since you don't usually see Sentai heroes jumping the gun like that. One thing bothers me though, why did Jin need all the Enertron then? Was it just so that J could summon him back because Jin's avatar can't stay out that long in the real world or is it so he can stay? Maybe I missed something, but it's a little thing to think about. Other than that I am liking the new characters and I can tell Hiroya's acting has improved or maybe this character is easier for him to do.
Enter did some more than the last episode since he actually got into the fight this time. I am surprised actually Enter hasn't been fighting the team that much recently until now. He just leaves things to the droids, but much earlier. At least he can a good confrontation with Jin. The droid was also nothing that special since he wasn't like the vacuum roid and he only had one good attack, those missiles! I did like how the Megazord looked since it resembled the droid the closest so far. Heck I bet if it gets adapted they can make this roid enlarge and then use that mecha footage since they looked very similar. So the villains did have one good scene which was when they attacked Jin and Hiro, but then they were just usual villains being defeated.
Hiro had the most time with Jin which is surprising because I would think Ryuji would want to see him the most. It was an odd little match up, but when things got serious it got good. High chance if Ryuji heard what Jin said they still wouldn't fight. Hiro had a little spike in his emotions since Jin was bad mouthing his father who made the decision to go to the sub dimension. I still wonder if Jin really meant that though or was he just trying to see how Hiro would act? The ending of this episode was very nice with the music box since it was x-mas themed which was when the incident did occur. This again brings more questions to me though. I guess Jin just knows about everything which wouldn't be surprising, but if he never met any other human where did he get that from? Was he just in the room at the wrong time or was the music box a way of telling the team that everyone is alright? I am thinking too much probably and I shouldn't accuse Jin of lying to the team since not even he would lie or joke around with this serious of a topic.
.... Moegi stop writing that fan fic of yours!
The action was great thanks to Hiro fighting Jin. I like when heroes fight because it can lead to something good or bad. It was neither though since their fight got interrupted which disappointed me. We could tell Jin was winning, but Hiro was countering some of his moves. Jin did have a lead, but it was more slimmer than you would think. The droid didn't have too much since he just fought Blue and Yellow mostly, but those missiles were a good part. We also had a little longer mecha fight since it was time for the reveal of the new ones! These machines are pretty interesting since the biggest part that flies out is how they suck Enertron from the Megazords. They are flying mechs which reminds me of the Go-on Wings, but Beet's can be ground or flying. So basically they are insect mechs that can fly and be on ground so it's a combination of the Goraijers' and the Wings' mech.
Overall the most impressive things in this episode mostly goes to Jin, but he was still being introduced so it works well. Jin is a fun character and I can't want to see more of him later on in the series along with J. The fights were good and got to great suspenseful points that actually got me surprised for once. The droid wasn't much special as I said before and Enter did have good confrontation. So even with little questions in my head and Ryuji didn't get that much I still give it an A- because Hiromu did great in his part and the new mechs are great. This is also my 300th post, man I sure did a lot and it's only been a year and some two months
Next Time: Go-buster Beet!

Go-busters Episode 15 Review: Boost Up For Buster!

Alright I am going to try catching up with Go-busters now since I am very behind. So expect more buster reviews. The episode begins where 14 left off as we see the new Busters. Kuroki is surprised to see the gold hero along with his silver robot. The two even start to fight a little. With the other Busters, Gori accidentally drops Ryuji's collection of keepsakes. Gori keeps these items around so that one day they can feel nostalgic for Ryuji. Hiro and Yoko look around and find a picture of him when he was in school and a paper. It was for placing second in a robot competition and Ryuji starts to look back. He remembers someone who he idolized the most as he was the judge who ranked him second. It seems that Ryuji's sempai was also a victim of the Messiah outbreak thirteen years ago. Going to Messiah then he is getting angry at Enter for failing once more and not having enough Enertron to make the new Megazord. Enter is questioning that fact and finds out that there is a leak. He goes back to the real world and makes a new droid from a vacuum as it drains Enertron from cars. The Busters appear to fight the grunts and the droid. Soon Beet Buster and his robot J appear as Ryuji starts to recognize Beet's voice. The two take on the droid until it decides to retreat. Soon Beet shows his identity and Ryuji's insight was correct as it his sempai, Jin. The three are shocked to see a man from the sub dimension. Back at the base Kuroki talks about why he was keeping this a secret since he doesn't fully trust Jin and J. Ryuji thinks it's a trap since Jin hasn't age at all as he shows a picture of him thirteen years ago. The droid continues to drain Enertron  as Hiro is the first to appear. He transforms and stops him from draining. The others show up, but they are soon completely beaten up by the droid who snaps. The Megazord will soon appear and the team cannot defeat the droid. Jin and J appear though as they transform into Beet and Stag Buster. The three decide to leave the fight to them as Ryuji believes it really is Jin. This is because Jin mentions about J not being perfect, but he likes that. Jin had the same ideal back then as he doesn't aim for perfection. The team enter their machines and fight off the Megazord. The Megazord can also drain Enertron as well, but they soon plug the vacuum and finish it with Gobuster-oh. Back with the new heroes they finish the roid with a duo finisher. Afterwards all seems well, but Jin and J steal a truck which had all the drained Enertron. The team tries to chase them, but they couldn't catch up in time as they now question the two even more.
Episode 15 was very straight forward as they introduced the new heroes in the usual way. Not all the information is clear about them and there is a sense of distrust. Their reveal reminds me of Gosei Knight's appearance since both came out from nowhere and the heroes aren't sure about them. So far I am liking the new Busters, first I love the insect motive and their designs are really good. These two remind me of Yuuto and Deneb from Den-o since Jin bickers with him and even smacks him around at times. I do like that character trait which is way I like Yuuto and Deneb so I hope these two can be similar as that could help the humor of the show. Their theme song is very surprising as it's very different and reminds me of music from Spanish countries. The song is still very good though since it has a great sense of action and it has a great rhythm. Their first was also great as they do fight well together. I am really liking that a Buddyroid is a Buster as it shows that Jin feels differently about how the Buddyroids should be handled or he just wanted a partner in battle. They have a great device from transforming and the sounds for it sound better than the Buster Braces. Overall I am impressed by these two and I hope they have a good background. One more thing, Hiyora is remember for his bad acting in Magiranger. I didn't really think he was that bad, but he has improved with this carefree character.
A genius who doesn't aim for perfection
Everything else in the episode was pretty bland though. Enter didn't do that much, the team just mostly fought. Ryuji interacted the most out of the usual gang since he was flash backing and remembering who Jin was. I did like seeing Ryuji thinking it was a trap because of how Jin hasn't changed. It shows that Ryuji thinks of the other reasons and won't jump in just because it's his sempai. I was hoping for the commander to do a little more than just talk with Jin, but his insight was alright. I do have to say though Enter did have one great moment where he summoned the droid as he was wearing the maid like outfit just cracked me up. It was so simple, but it reminds me of the last episodes where we see him playing an instrument as he waits for progress. So there wasn't that much interaction from the other characters sadly, but hopefully that should change in the next episode.
Striking fear to all of his foes
The action was nothing that special expect for the reveal fight for the new heroes. I did like the droid for this episode mostly when he snapped though. He reminds me of my brother at times as he can be quiet, but when you start to bother him he snaps. Seeing the droid going crazy in the fight did make the overall action somewhat better. Also it shows a little more emotions with this droid which is something that not most droids have even my favorite one. I really did like the first fight for Beet and Stag Buster as it was the basic reveal fight, but had a great song and nice direction. Their weapons are their transformation device which can be a gun and a pretty big blade. Too bad the two don't combine like the original Busters' weapons, but having something different is better I guess. Overall the reveal fight is the highlight and then there were just little added factors to make it shine some more.
Also it was a quick mecha fight like usual
Overall the episode doesn't have much shining factors, but the new heroes are shown greatly. I like the ending a lot since it just gets the heroes to question Jin's motives even more. Is he really a good guy or is he acting on his own? So I give the episode a B+ as there are a scarce amount of great things, there are still good things and nothing bad really.
Next Time: Oh boy I can hear Moegi writing her fan fic already.

Go-Busters Episode 14 Review: Cosplaying Never Fails

I know the last review I did was for Go-Busters, but since this is the series first two parter I wanted to finish it. Well the story begins where the first part ended with the new Hornroid coming out and fighting the team. His attacks work immensely this time as Red and Blue Buster's Morphin Braces are destroyed by the sound waves. Yoko isn't affected by this for some reason, but she soon starts to power down. When she hides to get a boost from her candy the Hornroid finds her and takes her hostage. He takes Yoko with him and the Busters lost this battle. Back at the base they get a call from the Hornroid saying if they get in the way of the Megazord Yoko will be killed. At first it seems the team is focusing on the Megazord and this starts to worry Nakamura and she tries to change her mind by showing what Yoko's big surprise was. It was a birthday party for the Buddyroids since it is the day when they were first operational. Hiro and Ryuji are moved by this, but they were planning to save Yoko anyways, all they have to do is save her before the Megazord appears. The two heroes sneak into the building and get a plan to disguise Hiro as Enter. It works for a little while, but the Hornroid catches on because of Hiro's heartbeat. A quick attack is needed as they do and Yoko is given a little boost. She escapes and now before two minutes they need to finish the roid and they do so. Now they fight the enemy Megazord and use their mechs at first, but soon combine into Gobuster-oh to finish it off. The team continue on with the party for the roids and even though it isn't a surprise anymore things still went greatly. Where is the commander though? We finally find out what he has been doing as he meets the new Buster and his Buddyroid!

First thing I want to mention is that Enter didn't appear at all in this episode. It really felt odd to not see him at all. It would have made the scene with Hiro dressed up as Enter a much funnier is the real Enter actually saw it. The episode doesn't feel as rushed as the last part as things run more smoothly, but the mech fights are still going way too quickly. A lot of other things went well in this episode like how the Hornroid was. This one was more of a challenge because of his shock waves. The reason why his shock waves did so much damage to two of the Busters is because of the last roid. His shock waves are simply like an add on and when the second when is applied it will hurt the target. Yoko wasn't hit by the first one so that is why she could fight on. Which brings me to another point with the kidnapping it makes sense since Yoko could have easily make the fight a win so getting her was smart. Sadly I don't think the Hornroid noticed at all because he just finds her when she was recharging. I like it that he quickly thought of a new plan, but I was hoping he would plan the kidnapping because he noticed Yoko wasn't affected by his attacks. In the next fight the Busters are immune to the sound waves because the two got their Braces fixed. It was a quick fight, but it works because it was meant to be one. They needed to finish him off quickly so that they can fight the Megazord. Now onto the Megazord fight, it was short, but still good. I liked seeing that the team remembered about the shock waves and they quickly cancel it out with Ryuji's own shock waves. Overall the roid was used somewhat right, but he got lucky and then he is easily defeated. The fights were good with the first one showing that the team can still pick up after themselves even when injured because Hiro still fights even with a broken brace and visor. They even got a comeback for a while, but then Yoko got kidnapped. The second fight was the best showing the great teamwork of the team and the mecha fight helps with that as well.
Something else that was well done is how the heroes were reacting to the situation. I liked seeing them still thinking about the operation and their teammate at the same time. Hiro and Ryuji were even reflecting on the past hours and it was nice to see Hiro realizing his mistakes because of what he said to Yoko in the last episode. Ryuji even cried a little when he saw the surprise which supports his brotherly image, showing that he is happy of what Yoko was doing. I loved watching when the two went to save Yoko because this is their first sneak in mission. We usually see them look around or when they enter a building they attack when an enemy is spotted. This is the first time where they have to enter without being spotted. It was a nice change of pace for the heroes showing some more of the spy motif. The Buddyroid interactions were nice, but not as good as last episode. Their scenes were pretty quick this time with Usada freaking out and Gori helping out with maintenance. Nick didn't do much which felt a little odd, but oh well he was still around at least. One thing I always liked it how Mori kept noticing that the commander wasn't around. A great point for the roids is when they jump into action and help the team. It shows that he is an important part of the team, but it was nice to see the other two working without him. Nakamura also stepped out a little because she worried for Yoko. It's just nice to see characters like these interact like friends, mostly the spy shows and movies always punish people who try to make friends or further relationships.
One final thing to talk about is the new Buster. This is Beet Buster and he is played by Hiroya Matsumoto who was Magiyellow. First thing for sure is that he sounds different and we didn't get to see what he looks like, but his personality jumps out already. He reminds me of Basco a little because of his arrogant behavior. By the sound of it his acting seems somewhat better, but I will wait when we see his face. The design looks pretty good a nice gold color and having the usual black like the other Busters. The helmet stands out because of the horn and by the previews for the next episode their weapons looks interesting. With his Buddyroid Stag J he is voiced by a good actor. Sadly we didn't hear much from him, but this is Yuichi Nakamura the voice actor who does the voice for Hazama in Blazblue. At first when I heard about this I thought it was going to be Yuuto, but I quickly realized it wasn't. Stag looks impressive and his appearance is much better than the other roids IMO. Since he will be more of a combat roid he already looks ready for battle than the other three and gold and silver never fail. He also has a nice addition of black for his body so overall his design works greatly.
Overall this episode was very strong even without Enter. Thanks to strong bonds between the characters and a pretty good villain. The fights were quick, but worked with building suspense and a dynamic feel. Also the episode gets me pumped for the new Busters. So I give it an A- because even though the villain was good he mostly got the upper hand because of luck, but the pacing is a lot better than in the last episode.
Next Time: It's time for new Busters!

Go-busters Episode 13 Review: R and R

As I said before I am trying a new format for my reviews. The way I am doing them is starting to feel like a chore and it really takes a lot of time to do. So I think I’m going to follow Orends Range way of doing reviews. I will focus on key parts of the episodes like the characters and action. Also I will look at new added elements like new characters and if something feels very different from the usual episode for the series.  First is the plot of this episode and it revolves around the team with a surprise day off. Yoko had the idea to relax for once and again this is another usual sentai episode. Whenever the duty of fighting monsters is seen more like a job a day off is needed the last time this was seen was in Shinkenger. Yoko has many surprises for the gang as she planned this very well. I like seeing this it adds on to the kid like emotions Yoko has as she wants to make her teammates happy and she wants fun also.
The interactions between the characters were the usual things, but the comedy helped out with this. First I liked to see some of the happier sides of the teammate’s sure Hiro still acted the same, but Gori, Usada, Nick, and Ryuji were more cheerful. Then there was some comedy like with Nick getting lost even at an amusement park even though he had a map. With Usada he wanted to go on some rides, but instead Yoko fused fun and work together. She makes Usada go on rides to search for the enemy. Hiro even gave some criticism to the metaroid about his music. Along with that Hiro’s usual attitude does put down Yoko a little because he is putting working before fun and thinks the day off is over which saddens Yoko.
For the villains we see Messiah in a different way this time. He wants more enertron for the build of the new megazord and what I found surprising is that he seemed more calm than usual. He goes basaltic whenever he tells Enter what to do, but this time he just told him to “Shut up and work.” I liked this because Messiah for a while always acted like a baby, yes he is still complaining about getting things, but his attitude in this episode helps make his image look a little better. Of course when Enter makes his move with the Tubaroid it goes to where the Busters are. The metaroid for this episode is odd; he is made from a musical horn and leads a marching band of grunts. For some reason this makes me think of Ohranger since the series and it’s movie were strange at times. The oddest part of the monster is that his main weapon the tuba doesn’t seem to do anything and the same for the megazord, but just wait because Enter uses his tricky once more. Enter actually summons two metaroids this episode and thanks to his strategy he makes the first one hit the team with a sound wave and I guess the second one will probably do something with that.
Something new is that the commander isn’t around for some reason and we see him looking into the hyperspace. This could be a time where the plot can begin to move a little as I wonder what is exactly in there that interests him. The action was good it felt different thanks to some of the camera angles and how the enemy attacked was more intelligent. We still got the same things though like with Ryuji using his close combat and Yoko hopping around, but Hiro didn’t do his super speed for this episode. The megazord fight was very quick, but it was like that for a reason. This actually happens even before the half time mark of the episode. This is one thing that is very different, a mecha battle can begin before the halftime mark, but ending in it as well is new. A sentai mecha battle can also happen in the beginning of the episode, but this was unique.
Overall the episode is good, but this episode does end with a cliff hanger when the second roid appears before the team. My only problem with this is how this episode was paced. I mean it felt like the writers didn’t even try to make it a one parter. By that I mean things just go by too fast and any odd moment is just going left to be explained in the next episode which is not well. Kamen Rider series have been doing the two arc style for a while and things are mostly explained in the first part. The second part is meant to be the conclusion. So I give it a C+ it had some unique moments, but the pacing just kills it for me and I bet the second part will be much better (just like recent Fourze episodes).

Go-Busters Episode 12 Review: The Metaroid Trap

The episode begins with Yoko testing out her piloting skills with a simulation. Yoko isn't happy for some reason and she wants to go through ion simulation once more. Ever since the last fight, Yoko is embarrassed that she was blown into the sky and wants to train more than ever. Nakamaru asks about what Yoko does on her days off and the response it mostly training or sleeping since she hates studying. Naka is worried because she is only 16 and yet she isn't having any fun. Meanwhile we see Enter talking to Messiah about the upcoming plan and with the team they are told about the next possible target. Enter could be after some crystals for the Megazords' eyes. The mission is to protect the crystals and their owner and that person is an actress named Angie. They are shown a picture of her and it looks just like Yoko. We then cut to the beginning of the mission as Ryuji is disguised as a waiter, Hiro is a clown, and Yoko is just watching. She sees Angie entering the building and has discovered that the crystals are in her earrings. Enter is already making his move as cp makes the Copyroid from a projector.
We see Ryuji giving tea to Angie her tea and he has a hard time with this since she looks like Yoko. The team is soon told about the reading of a Metaroid near them and the Alpha Megazord will appear in over 4 hours. Yoko then barely sees the Metaroid thanks to her camera and the team get ready for a fight, but the roid disguises himself by copying a person's appearance. Thanks to this the readings have even vanished and Yoko cannot trace it anymore. The roid easily gets through the team and tries to get Angie, but Ryuji jumps in and saves her. Hiro then apprehends the roid and he is easily catching on to the disguise since normal women aren't this strong. The roid shows his true self though and runs off, but he stumbles and falls to the ground. Yoko is confused on how it can hide it's readings, but there is no time as the team transform into the Busters. They easily kick and punch the roid around, but the roid runs for it and disguises himself again. After the fight they now know of the roid's ablitiy and realize when he got away. Now they predict that the roid will strike again when the press conference begins and that will be at 3 pm the time the Megazord will appear. The Busters come into where Angie is and Hiro tries to tell her manager to cancel the conference. The manager won't listen though since protecting Angie is the Buster's job in the first place and Angie's dreams are at stake (wait a second). Angie says she wants to be a well known actress and she cannot stop here (very familiar). Now they try to suggest to not have the earrings, but they are important since they fit the theme of the movie. Yoko finally comes in and yells at them since they are putting a lot at stake just for a movie. The manager quickly realizes that she looks like Angie and Angie is happy of what Yoko said. She asks Yoko if she has any dreams of her and says that the earrings are all she has left of her mother (of course). Ryuji has a plan now and since the enemy is impersonating people, why shouldn't they do the same?
The plan is to use Yoko as a decoy since she looks like Angie. Then Hiro will face the Megazord in the Ace as it's get approved by the commander. Before the plan begins Yoko thinks about what Angie said and thinks of her mother. Nakamaru then asks about when Yoko's mom was sent to the cyberspace which was 13 years ago. She is sad to see a normal girl like Yoko being involved in this, but Usada says that it was all the love and affection from Ryuji and the commander that has shaped Yoko in the girl she is today. Then before Hiro goes away he is asked about his dreams by Yoko. Hiro then asks her and she says she wants to defeat the Vaglass, but Hiro says that isn't a dream. Yoko agrees with him and since a dream shouldn't be something that someone has to do. Ryuji then says that after the fight they can look for their dreams. We then see Angie checking up on Yoko as she is preparing for the conference. Angie sees how similar Yoko is to her and she came to apologize about what she said before. Yoko though is fine with what she said since it's important for her. Yoko then begins to talk about how she never really had a dream before since she had to think about fighting all the time. Angie helps her out with the makeup and there she asks if Yoko is fine with this since she seems to be a normal girl. Yoko is fine since she wants to fight. The mission is beginning as Yoko steps put into the conference and Red starts fighting the Alpha zord. He starts with by throwing a sword straight at the zord as it falls down to the ground. A new sword is sent to the Ace and the zord copies the Ace's appearance. The two clash their swords, but the copy seems to be winning so far as it slashes the Ace two times. Ryuji is backstage and there he sees a man walking up towards the desk. There he suspects that is the roid as he tells Yoko. The man tries to get her, but she kicks him in the face and into the crowd. Ryuji was also right as the Copyroid gets rids of his disguise. Yoko fights him out of suit and she does well on her own as she gets the roid on the ground. To calm everyone down the manager appears and says this is all part of the event. The roid attacks again and Yoko defends the manager, but one of the earrings comes off and gets into the roid's hand. Yoko gets higher up and drop kicks the roid and tells him that he will not get the other earring since it is important for Angie.
The roid makes a run for it and gives the earring to Enter. Ryuji then appears as the conference continues with the real Angie. The two then morph into Blue and Yellow Buster and the fight begins with Blue tossing the roid down to the ground. Then Yellow jumps in and kicks the roid after Blue gets out for a while. Blue comes back in and gets the roid back on the ground, but this time he breaks the roid's copy arm. Blue gets on the ground then and blast the roid into the sky and it drops on the ground. Yellow runs in and slashes the roid and jumps over him. Both Yellow and Blue use the Special Buster finisher as it kills the roid. Now the two of them try to help Red, but since there are two Aces they cannot tell which one is real. To find out which one is which Yoko opens fires at the two Aces. Soon the copy ability wears off as the zord is revealed. With that out of the way the team combine into Gobuster-oh and finish the zord with Dimension Crush. We get back to the base and we see that Yoko gets an e-mail from Yoko. She doesn't want to since she lost one of the earrings, but she does anyways. It's in English sadly and Yoko cannot read it. The letter is mostly a thank you from Angie and it has a link to a video which shows Yoko fight the roid when she was disguised.
This episode played differently than I expected, but that is one of it's flaws. First the character Angie didn't do much at all which is sad to see since I thought she was going to have more interactions. I know the series is using execution methods with common sentai episodes, but there should still be more focus on the minor character. Angie is sadly a cliche character though so maybe I can see why there was less screen time for her. I mean she had the passion to continue for her dream like Jake from Fourze and she has a dead mother (it's like were in a Disney film). Yoko was great in this episode from seeing her deal with her thoughts and her out of suit fight was fun to watch. It is pretty interesting to see that Yoko really never had any big dreams since she was training at a very young age and doing that for a long time with a young mind can make people forget about other things. Enter was good like always and I just love how he plans things out. Enter keeps doing this and it just shows that Enter is really smart and since his plans actually work is a huge step up compared to other villains. The other fights were good I like how they used the Copyroid since he was a fighter that much, but what he had was more sneaky than other roids. The best fight was with Blue and Yellow since they have the closest bond they fight very well together. Yoko is the light hitter and can distract an enemy so that Ryuji can go for the big move then. The mecha fight was good since it did the copy thing and seeing how Yoko dealt with it made me laugh because a lot of times other episodes would take so much time to solve an issue like that. A thing that got me is that this episode is similar to episode 35 of Fourze since they both deal with dreams. Go-Busters didn't focus on it that much though since Angie was kinda ignored. Overall, there are really good things in this episode, but it's disappointing to see Angie have very little interaction even though the previews made it look like she was going to have more, a C+

Go-Busters Episode 11 Review: A Helping Hand

The episode starts with the team catching Enter has he gets into a fuse box. He quickly attacks as the team blocks his attacks and during the fight something on Ryuji starts going off. It says that his temperature is increasing and in 820 seconds he will overheat. Yoko wonders what it is as we get some back story from Ryuji. It seems Gorisaki has made this device to help Ryuji with his weak point as it can read temperatures. The two get back in the fight with Hiro, but Enter is easily dodging them. He vanishes for a second, appears behind them, and attacks as all three get hit by his wire. The device starts going off again as Ryuji tries to take on Enter, but he is sent back on the ground. His temperature keeps increasing, but soon he just turns it off since it's too noisy. Enter attacks once more, but this time he gets his wires wrapped around Ryuji's wrists. Ryuji tries to fight back, but the two stop him before his temperature spikes up anymore by cutting the wires. After that Enter calls it a day and retreats. At the base we see Gorisaki is stressing out with the fact his device was useless in the fight. Nick tries to cheer him up, but it doesn't seem like he is helping much. The team soon come in and talk about Enter since it doesn't seem he had a target this time. There weren't any readings of a Megazord either, but the commander reminds the team that Enter always has motives.
Soon Ryuji sees Gorisaki all worried and the others wonder why he is acting like this. Nick comes around to tell them about how the device was more of a nuisance than an aid and Hiro and Yoko didn't help with that saying it was noisy. Gori is devastated by this and soon some bickering occurs as Nick yells at Hiro and Yoko yells at Usada for saying that Yoko is nosiy. Ryuji gets Gorisaki's hopes back up by saying that he can't get it perfect the first time. He walks away as Hiro follows and Nick tells Gori that Ryuji wasn't mad at all since he is an adult. Back to Enter as he is looking at Blue in overheat mode and how his temperature increases. Already cutting to the heroes we see Gorisaki giving Ryuji an updated device and this time it can cool him off. Gori tries to activate it and soon it does, but unexpectedly. It sprays Ryuji with tons of freezing gas and when Gori turns it off and apologizes he is told to not over do it next time. Gori starts to walk away as he sees Yoko and Usada having an argument about cleaning the RH-03.  He also overhears another discussion with Nick and Hiro talk about how Hiro acted recently. When Gori is at the rooftop Nick comes up to him with a can of Enertron trying to help him out. He thinks it's about the safety device, but Gori is just a little jealous over Nick and Usada. Since those two can argue with their partners it shows that they show how they really feel about each other. Nick than talks about how him and Usada are jealous since Ryuji is an adult. Gori than goes on about how Ryuji always acted like an adult ever since they met as we get the flashback of thirteen years ago. Since Ryuji was fifteen he already had establish many things about himself and doing things at that age is hard so Gori believes that he cannot see the real Ryuji. Nick thinks he is holding back on Ryuji and Gori agrees, but he thinks that Ryuji is also holding back on himself.
With Enter we see that he is going to make a Metaroid with a fan. Back with Nick and Gori continuing their talk, but soon the alarm goes off. The Buster are sent to go, but Gori stops Ryuji to show him that he has made many other devices. Ryuji doesn't need it though since he has modified the original one.The team get to the location and they are soon blown by a strong gust. The team then changes their guns to the camera mode and look around the area. Ryuji finds the target and transform for battle. Red charges straight for the building, but he is blown away by the Fanroid who soon comes out of hiding. Blue and Yellow then try to attack him from both sides, but with soon activates his fan and moves out of the way. He then gives off another gust of wind that sends the three flying. Ryuji then holds onto the door and the others hold on as well. Ryuji keeps his hold and soon gets on the ground, but he wonders why the roid is acting like this. He soon gets the other two on the ground as they stand behind the wall to avoid the wind. With one minute left before the Megazord appears Red will go to fight it. With Red gone, the Fanroid soon comes out and starts to suck Yellow in. Blue gets a hold of her and gets her out the way of the incoming punch from the roid. The Ace appears, but the Megazord hasn't for some reason. The Beta Megazord appears from the sky and zaps the Ace with electricity. Since the enemy is in the sky they need the RH-03 to fight it so Yellow as to leave as well.
Now Blue fights on his own and tries to get the roid with his sword since it's trying to suck him in, but the roid soon changes the fan and blasts him away. Blue gets a firm grip on the ground and holds on for dear life. He is pushing himself too far though and the device soon starts going off which means his temperature is increasing or it's almost time for overheat to take in. Back with the Megazord it starts to suck Enertron in from above and Red cannot attack with the it zapping him. Yellow appears in her mecha and helps out as she dodges the lightning attacks. When she is close though the zord blasts her with a gust of wind and she is blown away. Back to Blue as he is deciding to let overheat mode takeover and there Enter appears. Gorisaki finds out that Enter was after Ryuji's weak point this time. Enter wants Ryuji to be in overheat mode since he loses control of his body and than getting rid of him will be easier since he will going into a resting states afterwards. Gori decides that he has to take action even if it defies the commander. With time running out Blue has to risk his life, but Gori appears and blocks the wind. Gori tells Blue to attack now and even though he doesn't want Gori damaged this is the only way right now. Blue fires at the Fanroid's fan and then gets ready for the Special Buster finisher. He destroys the roid with the attack and Enter retreats once more. Soon Gori falls down and when Ryuji tries to help Gori tries to give him an icepack. Ryuji though starts to yell at Gori because of his rash decision and Gori is then happy to be yelled at for once. Soon though they recuperate and head off to help the others. Red tries to reach to the zord, but it is too far. Blue comes though and gets a plan ready as Gori says that they can launch the Ace into the sky. Red uses Blue's mecha has a spirngboard as it shoves it into the air. There Red uses the finisher to destroy the zord. We then go to Ryuji and Gori on the roof talking about holding back. Now since Gori spoke his mind Ryuji tells him the device is helpful, but is too noisy. We then end the episode off with Gorisaki ranting on how Ryuji should act and that soon causes the two to fight.
Episode 11 is another great episode as it does something that the other episodes haven't been focusing on for a while. Sure it's similar to the previous Buddy roid focus episodes, but this pair is much different. Ryuji is a much older person and it shows since he is very gentle. The truth is that he should act out more since showing his true self can help out with other problems. I always liked how Ryuji and Gori treat each other, first Ryuji actually acts like the guardian most of the times since he has to support Gori to get his emotions back up. Gori is very nervous all the time and since Ryuji is kind to him it's hard to speak out against him. These two are my fave of the series and seeing them act out of character for a while was nice to watch. The fights were good since it just shows of awesome Enter is. Again he really thinks of what to do and it shows. Even though his main focus seems to be getting Enertron most of the time he tends to focus on other things like actually killing the heroes. If he does that he knows there would be less trouble. Then how he used the roid and the Megazord just to aim for Blue was genius. The other characters also had some nice interactions since they shown what Gori always wanted and how the talk between Nick and Gori was a nice change since I don't really see the Buddyroids have deep conversations like this before. Overall this is probably the strongest Buddyroid focus episode so far as it shows that true emotions should be used more often, an A.
Next Time: Oh...it's one of those episodes.

Go-busters Episode 10 Review: We Are Family!

The episode starts with the team in a deserted area as the grunts are trying to sneak around. The team is getting ready as they get their weapons ready. When the first shot is fired the team jumps into action by dodging the laser and attacking the grunts. At the base there are no readings of a Megazord or a Metaroid even with a large enetron spike somewhere and Nick is the one panicking this time. More and more grunts appear as they suspect the high amount of enetron was used to create them, but why? With the amount of foes increasing the team morph into the Busters and continue the fight. We go back to Nick who is still stressed out and Usada expects he has some sort of date. Nick says that's not right and then talks about how Hiro works too much as he slams the desk. After the opening credits we see the team killing off the grunts, but more keep appearing. Yoko is getting frustrated by the increasing numbers and Ryusei begins to overheat a little. He hides and begins to cool off. Sadly though a grunt finds him and tries to attack. When Ryusei dodges the grunt he starts to go into overheat mode and sends it flying with his punch! He gets out the blaster and shoots down the grunts and he even begins to destroy more than the grunts. Now Gorisaki starts to freak out, but at least the fight will go quicker and Nick hopes for that. Soon the base gets a message from the police about a robbery and it is by the Vaglass as a video is shown of Enter driving away with cargo. Ryusei finishes off the rest of the grunts and then faints.
Back at the base, the commander tells Hiro and Yoko that Enter's used the grunts as a distraction. What Enter got was a material called Deltanium 39 as it is used to create Megazords. Instantly Hiro thinks that Enter is beginning the construction of the new Megazord and since he has the blueprints it maybe true. What is needed though is to have a Megazord transfer the material to the cyberspace like they do with enetron. Commander knows that Enter will make another move and tells the Busters to be ready for that time. Nick is a little happy to know they are only on alert and tries to get Hiro to go somewhere. Hiro declines the offer as Yoko walks in. Nick tells her that Hiro's sister has an art show opening today and wants Hiro to show up. He knows that the exhibit is just an excuse though since his sister called many times before to try to get him away from fighting. Ryusei figures out that Hiro will simply ignore her since it seems better than arguing with her, but Nick is not happy with this and will go on his own. He will try to talk to her, but Hiro says that she hates him. He still has his hopes up and heads out. Yoko is worried that Nick is going, but there is no need to worry since he has no sense of direction. Going to Enter as he reports his robbery of the Deltanium to Messiah and he wants it in the cyberspace now. Enter says that he will get it there and leaves.
We then see that Hiro was right as Nick is already lost. He tries to hitch a ride, but no one will stop for him. A taxi stops near him and in it is Rika. Back to the team as Hiro talks about how Rika never liked machines. She never went to where he parents worked since she was afraid of the Megazords. The commander then pops in and tells the team that she not only rejects machines, but she also rejects the Vaglass and the Center. Nick is then talking to Rika as he tries to convince that he is fighting for an important purpose. She jumps to conclusions as Nick won't tell her where Hiro is and she says that Nick is separating her from her brother. Next is Enter getting human hostages and they are given the metal cells and become his slave. Enter then sees where he can get his next roid and the reading is caught. Nick is told about it and the team get reports on it as well. They see the human hostages being used to protect the Deltanium as the mission is to rescue the people. Hiro will go into the building, Ryuji will fight the incoming Megazord, and Yoko will take the sky. Nick then heads off, but before he does he decides to take Rika with him. With three minutes before the Megazord appears Hiro gets to the building, but he hears Rika call out to him. He first yells at Nick for bringing a civilian to the scene, but he soon approves of Nick's decision to show Rika what he does. Rika then tells him that he doesn't have to fight and he is only being tricked to fight. The discussion is cut short as two people run out of the building while being chased by grunts. He shoots them down and before he heads into action he tells Rika that he decided to fight as he transforms and runs into the building.
When he gets further inside he finds the Metaroid and damn does it look awesome or what? With Yoko she tries to attack from above, but there are too many people around.  There is only one more minute left and inside the fight begins and he tries to shoot the roid, but he has super speed and dodges the attack. He tries to slash Hiro, but he flips backwards to avoid it. Both then go into super speed and clash multiple times, but the roid gets a hit on Hiro sending him to the wall. He tries to attack again, but the same thing happens, but he this time he gets shot. With only seconds remaining, Ryusei has to defend the people from the Megazord since if they get transported into the sub dimension they will not survive. He transforms his vehicle into the beast mode and fights the Gamma Megazord. Rika sees this and begins to scream in terror, but Nick calms her down and tells her she needs to watch. While the team struggle he tells Rika that the reason why the Busters fight. It is to prevent any more casualties from happening and that the team has a lot of burdens they carry from their past. The team is not doing well as Yoko cannot attack the hostages, but they use themselves as shields, Ryuji cannot take on the Gamma roid by himself, and Hiro's speed is decreasing because he is human and fatigue will decrease it. The roid goes into super speed once more and Hiro throws his gun forwards and dashes to the roid. They clash some more, but Hiro is constantly being pushed back. While still being in super speed though he gets the sword onto the blaster and uses the special buster finisher as he gets the roid off his guard as he is destroyed.
Things seem to get a little better as Yoko gets all the hostages knocked out, but Ryuji cannot distract the Megazord for much longer. The only hostage left is a kid who is on top of the Deltanium and the Megazord is ready to transport it. Yoko is stopped by some grunts and Usada tries to stop the zord by firing, but it simply fires back at him. Hiro gets to the roof and uses his super speed to save the child from being transported. He cannot move him and it is up to Nick who flies in and saves both Hiro and the kid, but the Deltanium has been sent to the sub dimension. Enter appears to con congratulate the team, but in the end he has won this match and leaves. The metal cells then disappear from the hostages and even with the Deltanium gone everyone has been saved so it's a successful mission. He gets the child back to his parents and Rika finally sees what Nick has been saying. She sees Hiro take off as he gets into the 01. He then appears with the Ace and slashes the Gamma bot away from Ryuji. Now the team combine to make Go-buster-oh and start to walk towards to the zord even with it being shot at. When they slash it once they use the Dimension Crash to finish the Megazord. When the fight is over, Nick and Hiro go back to where Rika was, but she has left. Nick is sadden and thinks he may have said too much, but Hiro thinks she understands as he shows him a picture she has drawn of the family. Nick is still not happy, but Hiro shows him that a red cheetah is in the picture which symbolizes Nick. We end the episode with Nick in complete joy to see that he is part of the family.
Episode 10 is another great episode as we finally see Rika again. I have to admit I didn't like her character at first, but this episode clarifies on her reasoning. It really changed my opinions on her and seeing her change her mind was very touching. Reminding me the drama was near perfect as we see some more screen time for Nick and he does great. He does push Rika a little much in the process though he shows her what the team is really doing which again is a very nice scene to watch. The fights were great mostly with the best Metaroid in the series so far. It's said he didn't have a name, but I bet it was Gun Roid. The design was nearly flawless and he had super speed like Hiro. He gave Hiro a great challenge and how Hiro wins was excellent as he uses strategy to win the fight. The mecha fight was good as well since it the Gamma bot and those are the best so far. Gammas are the strongest as they both get what Enter wanted. Going to Enter he gets a little payback from the last episode as he throws a lot of things in the team's way. Overall the drama and action were nearly flawless and it was very nice to see Nick shine in this episode, I give it an A-
Next Time: Now it's Gorisaki's turn!

Go-Busters Episode 9 Review: Roger Rabbit!

We start the episode with a narration about an energy management center. We see the RH-03 flying in the skies as two guys are looking at it. In the Buster's base we find out that Usada went on his own. Hiro wonders if it is about the fight Yoko and Usada had recently as we see her eat a lot of candy. We see Usada getting out and moving along on his own, probably going back to the base. There the two guys from before are dressed up as bellhops and give Usada a lift. The two men take Usada to their car and put him in the trunk. A message is sent to the base about the kidnapping of Usada and everyone freaks out. In the base they replay a message where the thieves want 2,000 trons in exchange for Usada which is probably an amount of Enertron. At that point the commander wonders why Usada was at the management center alone when he wanted Yoko to be around with him. We now get the back-story of Yoko's homework issue. Ryuji says that Yoko needed help and this frustrates Usada and even Hiro joined in. The two had a little competition on who could finish the homework the fastest, but Usada doesn't care about that. Yoko is 16 and she needs proper studying and there he talks about how much Yoko slacks off. Yoko walks in and hears what Usada says and she isn't too happy to hear this from him. The two start to argue and split up thinking it will be better that way. After the story the management center doesn't want to be involved with this so the Busters will have to spring into action. There the commander gives Morishita the order to find Usada by his ID signal.
We cut to Enter who is talking to Messiah about the plans he retrieved for a new Megazord. Messiah is actually happy to hear this, but that changes when he hears that Enter needs some Enertron for the construction. Enter leaves quickly and is disappointed in Messiah since they need Megazords to get Enertron. Enter then starts to listen to any type of message and he hears about the 2,000 trons. We then see one of the robbers talking to someone about the trons. Mori soon finds where Usada is at and now the Busters can go and get him. Yoko is the first to start moving as she says she isn't worried, but we know she is. The team are sent out and go underground and when they get inside of the tunnel networks Hiro sends a map by analyzing the area. Mori and Nakamura now tell the team which paths to take. Thanks to the human GPS they find the room where Usada is as they catch the thieves. Yoko starts to act big headed since Usada got kidnapped. Things seem fine, but all of a sudden the grunts appear and attack. The team transform and take them on with their swords. Now Enter appears and he throws a bomb onto the ground! He takes Usada, the team and the thieves get out, and the bomb explodes.
Back at the base, the thieves have been taken care of, but now tracking Usada is harder since his signal has been lost. Soon Enter hacks into the television signals and gives the Busters a message. We see Usada being chained and hanging from a building as Enter wants 20,000 trons for an exchange. They have exactly one hour and if they are even off by a second or the trade will be a no go since a bomb as been strapped onto Usada. Mori thinks of having the Center help out, but the commander knows that they will not be involved like last time. The plan is to fake the trade, but this is Enter they are messing with. Yoko has a plan though it seems. We get to Usada as he doesn't sound that scared as he is happy someone knows how much he is worth. He does know that if he dies here there will be no one to take care of Yoko. An Enertron truck appears as we cut to Yoko giving the plan to the team. This already sounds faulted since when Enter check what's inside everything will fail, but Yoko thinks of a distraction method. Yoko wants Mori to play as Hiro and the real Hiro will be sticking out like a sore thumb. With this Enter will have to think hard no matter what decision he picks. With that Yoko can grab Usada since she will use Nakamura as her stunt double.
Yoko gets ready for her part as she eats her candy. Enter though has more planned as he summons two robots into the city. They seem to be from the Alpha Megazord from the last episode. It's time for plan B as Hiro rides away and gets ready to fight. Ryuji also goes as the other two follow him. Yoko gets on the roof of the building and starts to pull Usada up. Enter looks into the truck and finds out that there is only water in the tank. Enter then sees Usada being pulled up as he starts to bash on the enter key on his computer as the timer starts to move faster. Usada tells Yoko to run away since the explosion will get him and her. Yoko doesn't listen as she keeps pulling on the chains. The both of them say that they don't want them dead and it cuts to a flashback of the younger Yoko around Usada. There Yoko slips up and the explosion goes off. The plan seems to be a failure, but somehow Usada contacts Yoko. It was Plan B as the team made Enter think they left. Ryuji cuts the chains and gets the bomb off of Usada in time. Enter thinks they put the city in great risk just for the Buddyroid, but he forgets that the other roids can pilot the machines by themselves. Usada and Yoko reunite calling each other idiots and then Enter starts to crack! For the first time he snaps and lets hell lose! He attacks the Busters with his wires, but the team transforms and defend themselves with their swords. Enter then leaves saying that the Busters have taught him a great lesson. With Usada back the team get into their machines and fight the Bugzords. They transform into their beast modes, but Hiro changes to the Ace pretty quickly. Yoko kicks one into the air as Ryuji throws the other and there he fires missiles at them. Hiro uses the finisher as the bugs are destroyed by teamwork! Things are back to normal now as it seems Yoko tricked the commander to do her homework.
 FUUUUUUUUUU!
Episode 9 really delivers what previous episodes haven't. First is the great amount of teamwork in this episode as even Mori and Naka get a little more screen time. I like how Usada is a teacher for Yoko since she was young when she had him and education is important. How Yoko was slacking off fits her character well and I loved the scene where Usada and Yoko flip out on each other. That is one thing this episode brings is comedy. For me Go-Busters has funny moments, but never had any great funny moments. I really laughed with this episode though as I liked how Usada stayed calm mostly because he was worried on how much he was worth. Enter was at top form in this episode because he finally snaps. I wasn't expecting it at all because he usually stays calm, but no he has been completely screwed with. Enter always tricked the Busters somehow and mostly his plans fail because of the roids and the Megazords. This is the really first time he messed up and seeing that reaction really shocked me. There weren't many fights, but at least the mecha fight was good. It was short, but seeing the team use their individual robots was much better than any of the Gobuster-oh fights so far. Anyways what replaced the action was great comedy and drama so I give this episode an A-
Next Time: Ugh... she's back
