Power Rangers Samurai Special Reivew: Battle of the Reds

Well I know I said I wouldnt do as many Samurai reviews, but this episode is somewhat different from the original Shinkenger series, so lets see if I can get through this. The episode starts off with showing us a fight between a new villian in RPM's dimension, Professor Cog fighting Scott in the RPM Ultrazord. They have a duel as Scott seems to get the hit, but Cog fakes him out as he takes down the zord as he laughs saying he will never be defeated. Scott says he will follow him no matter what, as Cog says he will go to a different dimension (dont give yourself away). After the opening we see an empty subway with a train coming as Professor Cog steps out of it with his grunts (I guess trains can go between dimensions). Soon we cut to the Samurai rangers fighting off a new monster as he mostly beats them up until he runs out of water. Cog was watching in the background as he sees how to get to Master Xandred. We see the monster back in the ship where..... Akomaru what is he doing there?! Well Cog soon enters into the Sanzu River as he makes a deal with Xandred to destory the rangers so he can get the water from the river to kill off his planet. Next we see Ranger Red step out of the same train (maybe letting him know where you go wasnt that smart Cog).

Well after the fight the rangers go for some treats as a car almost falls on them (so close). The team soon find that robots are attacking construction workers. They have some issues though because their swords seem to be weak facing robots since "they are armor." Soon Ranger Red helps out our hero as Scott acts a little differently than he usually does with this fight (blame the use of the original footage). Well Scott mostly does the rest of the work as he finishes off the grunts. The team talk to him wondering who he is as he says his name, but Jayden wants to see his face. Scott says there are some issues with that though as the three guys are not trusting him. Jayden asks a question that I have as well of how Scott got here from another dimension, but Emily and Mia says he can talk later as they take him to their dojo. When entering in the dojo Scott still doesnt seem to act like himself as he wonders how they live here without tv and video games. Scott soons start to talk about him wanting to take down Cog because he is trying to find out how to kill off his world. He also reveals that he cannot de-morph because he doesnt feel safe breathing the air in this world because of his life in a dome city. The team soon start to feel bad about him then as Mike is still doubtful.

Xandred helps Cog with his plan by giving him a monster to command. He even has one ranger in his sights as we see Antonio well the back of him fishing as Grinders are ready to attack him. For some reason we cant see Antonio as he morphs and fights them off with..... Daigoyou when did he get that?! Well the team soon find out about a disturbance going on as Scott takes Mentor's bike to help Antonio. At first he thinks it was Jayden in a different suit, but his brain kicks in quickly as he can tell it wasnt him. Scott easily takes down the Grinders easily as Cog shows himself. For some reason he even knows about Xandred as he will stop their plan. Everyone else comes in as Antonio still wonders who he is, but they just go into the fights. He takes down both reds with bullets as he uses an attack to send them to Scott's dimension, but the rest of the team block the hit as they are transported to another dimension. Oh yea I forgot to mention about Xandred's army he has been preparing where a monster named General Gut I think as he is ready to fight. Soon Cog starts to laugh because his bullets will make the two reds go after each other's throats. The two start to bicker at each other when they find out where Cog is as the two race to get there.

Jayden gets to the fight first as Scott starts to complain how this is his fight. Cog is happy to see his plan is working as the two reds fight each other. Soon they both get fatal blows on each other as Cog thinks he has won, but nope Scott and Jayden were already free from the poison from the bullets. Jii found the symbol power to do so as the two just came here to trick Cog. So wait you were already free from the poison and yet you still pretended to fight each other. You didnt even attack Cog in anyway so what was the point! Sorry there that is a pretty bad flaw there I must say, but oh well the two start to fight the troops in a car as they take the grunts out and knock the monster down. Cog gets in the fight though as Jayden gives him the Shark disc? I thought that was a dino not a shark. I'm sorry again, and Scott gets a power up from the disc as Jayden enters Super Mode..... nope I think you know what I'm going to say. The rest of team return somehow and they finish off cog and the monster. There is another fight though as they face a whole army of monsters. The team go on horses while Scott and Antonio take the car. Jayden goes straight to Gut, but he has some issues fighting him, until he uses the Shark disc to enter Shark mode. Soon Jayden and the other four take down the monster as they fight in the zords, but they have some issues because he uses a sneak attack on them. Scott and Antonio cant join because the car is broken.......... well the team use the Shark zord and oh yea the Mega Mode gets a new look with the Shark Mode and it looks a little better I must say. The team finish off Gut with Shark Samurai Megazord as they say goodbye to Scott as he goes back on the train to his dimension.

Well there are some flaws with this episode, but overall its a pretty good episode. The interaction between Scott and the Samurai team is pretty good as they feel sad for him. Scott didnt seem he was acting like himself, but I blame how they used the Shinkenger vs Go-onger footage. If this was just a person impersonating Scott its pretty good as it sounds like Scott at least. I did like how they actually thought of a reasonable reason why he couldnt de-morph it was actually sort of smart because he was outside at times, but hey give them some credit for trying. The dubbing was on and off as they are some good lines I liked. For example when Jayden was counting down the number of monsters he took down, with him going "Wait wasn't there four!" The acting seemed to be a little better than usual. No Bulk or Spike, but oh well they never do anything. I did hear there were some money issues and thats why they couldnt show Antonio as the character was voiced by someone else which also shows who voices Scott, but it could be a fake name. Just using the footage from two of the Shinkenger movies probably took a big chunk of the money so Saban had to cut some corners. The Shark zord isnt a shark first of all, it's a dinosaur! There is also the fact that we see Akomaru, Daigoyo, and the Super Mode, but the series never shown them so what the hell is up with that. Then there are some dumb moments where you will comment on, but in the end its a pretty good team up with one member of the team which is also disapointing. I will give it a C though because they did do something different for once even if they used episode 29 of Shinkenger somewhat and the two movies and combined them and it isnt a big mess thank goodness for that.

At least new fans of the show will know of RPM now. Also I will probably be watching that series again so get ready for a review in the next couple of months.

RPM Red Ranger in Samurai

Well the news is out and it seems that only the red ranger will be appearing in the crossover. Also guess what he is going to be stuck in his suit for the whole episode....... F$#%! I know this wasnt going to be a good episode, but at least get the original actor. I know its hard to get some, but if you cant get him dont make the episode its simple as that. They are also using the same monster from the Shinkenger and Go-onger team up so yea copy and paste is going to happen. I can tell I'm going to be pissed at the upcoming episode because high chance they are going to get a guy who sounds like Scott, but for fans we will know its not him. At least this can shine some light onto RPM because its a much better series than Samurai. Its funny that fans like Shinkenger more than Go-onger and for Power Rangers its the opposite, just like the moods for the series. Its so weird that all this switch around is happening for both Sentai and Rangers. Whats great though is what Henshin Grid says, 'Samurai sucks and made our favorite season RPM go down with it.' It seems very similar to what I said on my poll results. "I am mad about the Samurai and RPM crossover because Samurai is mostly unoriginal and now they are going to drag RPM with them." Maybe Lavender Ranger views the site, I kinda feel happy about that. Well I am still sticking to my opinion on this because RPM was great and now they are going to have something dirty up their image. Only one image can describe what has happened.

Yea pretty much sums it up

Power Rangers Team Up Samurai and RPM

Yea I'm not kidding somehow Saban is crossovering to a disney series, hey disney did it so why not. First I want to say something, Go-onger was a light hearted series that was funny, the adaption was dark and still had humor, but it was a post-apocalyptic theme so yea completely different than Go-onger. Shinkenger was more of a darker series than Go-onger, but it also had good humor and really enjoyable cast for both heroes and villians, the adaption is a rip off of Shinkenger yet its trying to be a light hearted series. So get it Go-onger was light hearted RPM was dark, but Shinkenger was dark and Samurai is light hearted its funny that two completely opposite sentai team up, but its switched now for Power Rangers. RPM is the dark series while Samurai is trying to be funny. Well this is real and will come sometime this year after two flashback episodes... great....

The Clash of the Red Rangers - a crossover special where the Samurai Rangers team with the mysterious RPM Rangers Red fend off the dual threat from Master Xandred's Mooger army and robotic super-villain from the RPM Ranger's dimension. When something goes awry, the two Red Rangers turn on one another and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

Now the episode says that only the Red Ranger will come well thats interesting it actually sounds original, but..... it isnt. The plot is copying the Shinkenger and Go-onger team up so... F%#$! It was soooooo close to being original! Now we know they wont use the footage from the movie because it looks completely different from the series footage so they will probably copy the scene, but shoot it themselves. So will the others be coming in this and will it be a two parter? We have to wait for this unoriginal episode sometime this year and I can wait!

My Memories of Power Rangers

Recently someone has mentioned if I cover on Power Rangers because of it is a live action series. I do, but I wanted to focus on the originals also I got some personal issues with it. First I will do Samurai reviews, but if I get too mad from watching them I will stop and just do a series review. Now I remember power rangers as a kid with MMPR which was my childhood I still love it now, but that is mostly for season 1 and 2, season 3 was ok. Sure it was corny, but that was the 90's and kids show were like that and that show did great with it and even did good story arcs. Another thing I love MMPR is the original ideas it had because it was different from Zyuranger and sure they used similar plots for some episodes, but some were original. Next was Zeo and it was ok it wasnt close to MMPR, but it was still above average. Turbo was next and wow I remember liking some episodes as a kid, but now I mostly hate it. There is Justin of course who almost killed the franchise and the whole cast change, but I think Turbo got better after the big change because it was time to finally move on. Still until the last episode the series was bad mostly with it trying to be dark, but relying on scenes from a comedic series.

He better not come back for another series

I was almost going to stop watching Power Rangers because I thought we could be stuck with Justin, but the ending made me wonder what the next series would be. So I stuck by Power Rangers as they went into space. I'm glad I stayed too because Space is still my favorite PR series. As a kid I loved how they looked back to some older series with Adam coming back and actually using his powers and with Zordon being kidnapped. They did have an episode where they met with Justin again and that was a good episode I have to say. There was that TMNT crossover which was dumb imo, but oh well it was only one episode. Space was a darker series too and it did that much better than Turbo. The series did start the Battlizers which can vary for me, but its not a big deal. The story was good with the enemy being related to the team in someway. It made for good writing and good twists for the series. My favorite part of the series was the ending though because you cannot forget it when you say it. I will spoil this sorry about that, but Zordon dies! The series took a big move with this showing its finally time to completely move on and do what sentai does with having new team memebers in each series. Also the episode showed some quick characters from other series and ended the Zordon era with a big bang!

Hail Zordon!

With this new move the franchise started the Lost Galaxy series and it was good, but it was trying to be like Space at times imo. It was another dark series and I respect that, but it was another space theme because Lost in Space reborned the series. As a kid I liked it, but now I'm on and off because the series wasnt all that original. It did take somethings from Gingaman like with their KuroKishi, but did somethings different like killing off a character! She just comes back though for some reason in the final episode, it was weird. Also from a sentai view now it seems odd that a sci-fi theme is going with a sentai that was about nature. Rescue Force for me was good as well mostly with their own sixth ranger, but kinda copied GoGoV. Time Force had a great cast and a great villian, but it suffered from copying Timeranger. Then came another series I disliked, Wild Force. Its shares the same problem with Time Force, but a lot worse. First the red ranger did change, but it was bad change as Cole is one of my least fave red rangers. Also this is the first cut and copy pr series imo because it does mostly everything Gaoranger did! Ninja Storm didnt copy too much from Hurricanger, but big points were copied expect for their sixth ranger which I liked that change it was a good idea to have Cam become a ranger.

Why did you have to come back?!

Another great series saves the day though with Dino Thunder having mostly completely different villians, cast, and plot points. Dino Thunder brought back Tommy for one for go as a ranger of his own because he is just that awsome. I didnt like their sixth though it was similar to AbareKilller, but worse mostly with the character Trent, at least he had a good bond with the main villian. Now we get to the parts I hate the most about Power Rangers, the dork era. It first started with SPD and wow I hated this series the villian was good and having a rivalry with a hero was a great idea, but it suffers so much from other cast members. This is my least fave cast because they are cut and copy or they are changed to much. Also they were just annoying expect for Doggy he was fine, but Bridge........ yea skip that there will be too much rage then. SPD also had the worst team ups imo because they were implausable and boring like the whole series. Also barely any original ideas just copy the episodes it should be fine. This continued for a while as we had Mystic Force which had an ok cast, but it copies Magiranger, it was as bad as SPD though.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Stay Away From Power Rangers

Now we are at the series that everybody hated, Operation Overdrive..... AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I mean wow even as a kid I hated this series back then when I was a kid the past two series still had some good moments imo because I didnt know about Sentai back then, but OO was just plain bad. I even hate it more because I love Boukenger its my favorite sentai series. It suffers from copy and paste and when it does somthing different its the worst move possible mostly with you know who being a robot! Even the team up was a fail because even with Adam we had Bridge! Also some other people I didnt really like at least Blue from NS and Yellow from DT were there I liked those two. The series even failed with the villians with replacing a good villian with two dumb ones and having everyone else be dumb as well. Even the other rangers were a pain in the ass, pink was boring, blue was a really bad actor, yellow was plain in the worst way possible, and black is.... well he wasnt the best at acting and he cannot compare to Bouken Black an ok character. The Silver was just bland as well nothing special about him, but nothing to get enraged about. Now with that fail of a series what was next.... oh yea.... Jungle Fury.... ANOTHER COPY AND PASTE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!! I mean what was going with the franchise were the writers dead or something so Disney just half assed it. I dont want to talk about Jungle Fury, please leave me with some happiness.
GO F*%& YOURSELF!

Next was Disney's last Power Ranger series and I was so happy because after those series I thought it was dead already. Now I did see Go-onger before so when I saw the beginning of RPM my jawed dropped! RPM was a really good series, it was original using a comedic series, but making it dark. Even with some annoying characters like Gem and Gemma they had some good moments and werent the worst characters ever, but Ziggy was close. Still this was a great improvement from what we have been seeing for the past years. Now there is Samurai (I know there was the MMPR remake, but I never saw it because I didnt want my inner child to die!) and we are back to Operation Overdrive NOOOOOOOOOOO! The worst part is that Saban got the franchise back and its this bad already. Sure there are two good characters Mike and Antonio and there is Jayden who is improving with his acting at least. Mostly though Samurai has no original ideas and you can see what I think from one of my first posts.

Thank you RPM

So I dont hate Power Rangers completely, but there are SOOOOO many series I hate and there is only five I really liked. The only sentai I had so much anger with so far is Goseiger and thats only one out of like 15 series I have saw. There are ok ones as well with PR, but the bad ones really stick out and it changes people's opinions a lot. Also there is the fact that I hate people just calling japanese live action series Power Rangers when they havent even seen it! So in the end I will always remember my childhood with Power Rangers and I will stick with it hoping for another original series.

I will always remember it
