Movie Month: Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger VS Uchuu Keiji Gavan Review

The 80's had a lot of great things. Even for Toku the 80's was a very great time, there were Kamen Rider Black and RX as they still live as fan favorites. For Sentai we had Denjiman going to Turboranger as the 80's were known for being the darker side of Toku. By that I mean the series had more series plot twists for example the Liveman series is a perfect example of that and Kamen Rider Black carried some dark tones. There was one more great thing about the 80's though and that was a whole new franchise! Gavan came in 1982 and made the Metal Hero franchise starting out with the Space Sheriff trilogy. It is 2012 and recently this great hero has been brought back for the 30th anniversary for the Metal Heroes. So the hero is crossed over into Sentai as we get Gokaiger vs Gavan. Gokaiger is mostly known for it's tributes to the Sentai franchise, but they step out and tribute a different franchise and a great actor. The plot is pretty simple with the pirates being attacked by Gavan. They are being arrested for acts of piracy even though they have already been cleared for that by S.P.D. The fight starts in the air and yes the movie begins with this. The team's ship is taken down and Gavan reveals himself. The team decide to fight and that was a big mistake, Gavan easily wins and captures the pirates. He brings them back to a meeting area where a leader appears to execute the team. Gavan catches up on this and quickly saves the team. He actually knew what was going on and used the Gokaigers as bait. For who exactly, a Zangyack chief, but he has some connection to Don Horror! The enemy also made an imitation of Gavan. Gai comes to the rescue for the team and escape as Gavan fights on his own. Marvelous notices something though and hesitates, but the team escapes and Gavan is captured. The crew start to talk about Gavan and it seems Marvelous has been saved by him back in the past. Marve wants to rescue him, but how? For some reason Basco appears and tells the team where Gavan is. He is in the Makku Prison which is known for never letting anyone escape. Now the team need to get there and luckily two veterans appear. Shirou (Battle Kenya) and Oume (Denjiblue) appear out of nowhere and the team think they both look along with looking like Gavan. The two tell the team to get into the Makku Prison which is using the keys of Battle Kenya and Denjiblue. Now the team get into the prison and fight to save Gavan.

Pros- If you love Gavan and Kenji Ohba, you will probably love this movie. There are great tributes in this movie. We get to see Gavan's transformation like in the old series and the Gokaigers even get a narrative for their transformation. I like the little connections like Makku Space and the monster being related to Don Horror, these are nice and are used probably so that Gavan doesn't hog the spotlight. Having Basco actually interacting with the plot was kinda surprising. Usually the other villains just stay out in the movies, but Basco still stays true to himself and uses this to his advantage. Gavan was awesome, first the suit got redesigned and it looks fantastic. It keeps to the original design and gives it more shine like the sliver suit does. Marvelous had a different side of him than usual, but he still acts like himself. The fights were great from Gavan beating down the pirates to them teaming up. Gavan's song is even used in the background and when I heard that, my heart skipped a beat. Another great fight is when Gavan and Gavan Bootleg fight one on one and trust me I was gleaming with happiness thanks to that fight. The mecha fight is great as welll with the addition of Gavan's Dolgarin. Not only there are tributes to Gavan as I said if you love Kenji Ohba you will love seeing all three of his roles come to live in this movies. There are Sentai tributes with Battle Fever, Denjiman, and some nice appearances from past villains.
Cons- Even with nice connections, the villains are just average. Bootleg is silent, but hey he is just a robot. Anyways the design on Bootleg was great like Gavan's. The movie follows a tradition with showing the next Sentai team and I'm sorry, but I'm tired of this. It's random and is just there to get people excited about the new series. Sure they actually make a plot connection as the Busters fight Basco. Still they are there for a fight and that isn't right. I said this before with the villains, but why didn't they interact some more. I know the Zangyack usually leaves things to their commanders, but when they see a new hero joining in I was at least expecting some back up from Insarn. The story is pretty plain, but this movie is for an anniversary and it does that correctly. One thing that disappoints me is that Battle Kenya and Denjiblue don't get a great fight with Gavan, at least they transformed together.
Overall- There are mostly little flaws and there is some lack of tribute to Kenji. The movie is still amazing though with great fights showing that Gavan is still awesome! Also I am hoping there will be more Super Sentai/ Metal Hero crossovers. It would be very interesting to see heroes like Blue SWAT and B-fighter helping a Sentai team. I give this movie an A- because it works greatly as an anniversary movie and it keeps focus on the Gokaigers as the main characters.

Power Rangers Megaforce: Teenagers With Attitude

More news for the new series is coming out and there is even news of why Gokaiger wasn't used. It seems Saban Brands didn't want to use Gokaiger because of the pirate theme. They think it will bring more likeness to boys and it could be too hardcore for the target audience. Could this mean that Gokaiger could be left out of adaptions? Could this also mean that the rumors about mixing some elements of Gokaiger in the new series? Since the Legends War is being shot or has been for Power Rangers this could mean that Goseiger will act like Gokaiger for Power Rangers. More importantly is that Megaforce will have it's own original story. It will center around five teenagers, so it already screams anniversary right there for MMPR. Sadly this has been tried before with Samurai, but since Megaforce will be an anniversary series it could work out better. Even GoseiKnight will appear pretty early in the new adaption, but his name.... it's RoboKnight.... This does kill my anticipation of Knight being human in the new series, but why? I mean if they want to tribute 20 years of Power Rangers and the only robot warrior I can think of from PR is Blue Centurion from Turbo. I have a bad feeling the story will make him a malfunctioning robot since in the original footage he does fight the other heroes and the worst part is that Knight is a robot already in Goseiger so yea good work on the so-called original story so far. Also Megaforce is doing the two season move like Samurai as the first season will only have 22 episodes and two of them are holiday specials and season 2 will do the same. Also I heard rumors that it will appear on 4kids which I don't get because even though Samurai isn't that well it gave a lot of high ratings for Nick. I don't know why the franchise will step down into 4kids. Overall, I am hoping that this is the Power Ranger series I have been waiting for. Samurai was not a good comeback for Saban and I hope the next one will be.

Power Ranger Megaforce: Two in One? (Update)

Recently there is news about the new Power Ranger series that it will have both Goseiger and Gokaiger adapted. All I have to say to that is WTF! First of all the two series have completely different motives so how will that work at all. Goseigers are angels and Gokaigers are pirates, none of this make any sense. The only thing they will have in connection is the colors of the team. Another thing people are thinking about is the monsters, but that shouldn't be too bad. This is because Goseiger had four villain groups and each had a different motif. With the Zangyack they were one group, but their creatures varied a lot of times. This could also be good news because this probably means that Saban will use their own fight sequences so that they have both teams fight along each other. I mean since they are doing their own Legends War this series could have more Saban made fight scenes. The worst part though is the running time, remember a usual PR series can only get in the high 30's now these days. So imagine crossing two series with completely different stories into one. Now Saban could actually make their own story and if they don't... there will be many parts that will be left out. Overall I have a bad feeling that this will become a mess of a series, but who knows Saban could give us something unexpected, who knows they could even make it a longer series.
Well it seems that was a false rumor and the Sentai being adapted for 2013 will be Goseiger. Now this is better news and I was hoping for a Goseiger adaption. This is mostly because Goseiger can be easily used for an anniversary series for Power Rangers because of the colors. Now people are worried since Goseiger was a bad Sentai series, but that is actually good for the adaption. I see this trend a lot with PR series and whenever they adapt a good sentai series there is some sort of problem. Example: PR SPD, now I don't hate this series completely as it did do a good story, but there were annoying characters and the fight scenes were pretty bad thanks to the Kalish explosions (see Linkara's review if you don't know what I'm talking about). Then Dekaranger is still one of the best Sentai series. So in reverse this usually works well for PR series. Example: Go-onger for me was a great series, but for some fans they hated the corny humor. Disney's last series was RPM and made an original series. There is also the fact that there are a lot of things that can be changed in another post of mine (http://kamensentai.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-goseiger-could-be-adapted.html). I am hoping that Power Rangers Megaforce will do better than what Samurai is doing now.

Debate: Dairanger or Gokaiger

I have brought this up from my Dairanger review and I'm having a tough time deciding which series is my favorite. I have made my decision though and will compare the two in many categories.

Plot
Dairanger is a series that is mostly a war between two tribes as one of them comes back after many years. There are many things kept secret though as the heroes will find out many truths about their allies and enemies. Gokaiger is about a group of space pirates coming to Earth to find the greastest treasure in the universe. Before their arrival though there was the Legends War where all past Sentai warriors fight the Zangyack as they use all their powers to destroy them. Luckily they lived, but now have lost their powers, but the pirates have all their powers in form of the Ranger Keys. In their adventure they will learn about the true spirit of the Super Sentai and become heroes. Both have good overall plots, but I would have to go with Dairanger because I like the many twists there were and how it connected many characters. Gokaiger was mostly simple just with a lot of things added on like the rivalry with Basco.
You can say the same with Dairanger has there are a lot of added in sub plots, but overall the war story has a lot of secrets.

Heroes
Dairanger's heroes are people who have to forget their lives right now to fight the Gorma. The characters mostly go through really tough times as they meet many new characters to develop them further like Ryou and Jin. The two were tough rivals, but Ryou learned a lot from him as so did the others with their counterparts. Gokaiger's characters are mostly tributes in their own way like Marve is the bold leader with a dark past. We actually learn about them as the story continues and what hardships they had to deal before they became a team member. This time the point goes to Gokaiger because has I said the characters are tributes to the franchise and I liked that we learn about them and they stay the same throughout the series. Development is great, but it's better when a character stays the same as they are already enjoyable.
Number one reason why Gokaiger will be remembered for a long time

Villains
In Dairanger the villains are the Gorma the tribe that reawakens to kill off the human race. The main villain of the series is Shadam and he did a lot in the series as he is mostly connected to most of the twists. He also has a great passion and he did a lot to make sure he won as he used his own comrades to get it. The Zangyack are the villains in Gokaiger as another fleet comes to Earth as they are lead by the Prince, Warz Gil. He acts like a spoiled brat and whenever something fails he goes into a blind fury, now as annoying it can be it can also be funny. You all know where I'm going with this though, point to Dairanger. The Gorma are just way better because unlike the Zangyack the Gorma are actually have focus. The Zangyack are just simply there to be villains and even with Basco he cannot save the whole thing. Also where Gokaiger had one great villain, Dairanger only had one bad villain.
I couldn't like her at all, but at least the other villains were great

Action
A big factor of any Sentai series are the fights as Dairanger uses their motif of martial arts in them. Each member and even some villains have their own skills and powers which keep things nice and fresh. Dairanger also has some great out of suit action and for their robot fights it's really good because I think the 90's had some of the best robots. Gokaiger keep their fights fresh with the many countless combinations with the Ranger Keys. They can transform into the whole team or just randomize them like having all the same color. Their robot fights though are mixed up because even with great arsenals from the Great Powers of the Sentai they can get boring fast. Some don't even last a long time and the series uses a lot of powers way too much, so point to Dairanger. Even with the great combination fights and tribute fights from Gokaiger, Dairanger has great out of suit action and great robot fights.
Dairanger still has some of my favorite mechas

Episodes
Dairanger ran for 50 episodes while Gokaiger went with 51 episodes so both are pretty close to length, but Dairanger had a shorter run time. This was common in the 90's has the series had a much shorter amount of minutes. This doesn't kill the show though as everything still feels nice and paced. With Gokaiger again it's a mixed bag as I can't enjoy every episode the same for Dairanger, but whenever Gokaiger had a filler episode it was usually boring. Some people complain that Dairanger is full of too many cliches with their little episodes. Even if I see them those cliches are mostly from Chinese fighting movies and Dairanger did have that motif so it can get away with it. Gokaiger also has that same issue, since it's a tribute series it does follow some Super Sentai cliches. Both series can get away with their cliches, but Gokaiger wins mostly because the last episode and if you saw the Dairanger finale you know what I'm talking about.
The final episode for Gokaiger was simply amazing!

Verdict
You see why this is a tough pick, Gokaiger has little flaws and the same can go for Dairanger. In the end though I have to pick...
Dairanger!
The Dairanger series has a much better way of telling a story and it did a lot to affect the franchise. Also the villain were just much better as they had more connections to the story and the sub plots. The action is also a little better because of out of suit action and the robot fights. Gokaiger is still a great series, but there is only one strong villain as the others seemed forgotten and didn't do much expect to be evil. The fights actually got a little old as well as the series didn't mix it up that much as some powers were barely every used. This is my own opinion so you can leave your own opinions as well in the comments below.

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger Series Review

Well Gokaiger has ended and next week it will be Gobusters year as I hope this series will do great. It seems Gobusters will bring a lot of change to the franchise which feels right because Gokaiger was a huge anniversary series. Gokaiger takes place with our heroes going to Earth in the search of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. What they don't know is what happened in the past, their enemies the Zangyack attacked the Earth, but luckily the past 34 sentai all teamed up to fight. In the end they were ready to die for the Earth as they attempt an attack to use all of their powers. The attack works as the Zangyack fleet is destroyed and the warriors survive, but they have lost their powers. The pirates come to Earth and they have all the powers of the past warriors including their own. On Earth they see the Zangyack as a new fleet as come to Earth and seeing them attack the humans reminded them of the pain the Zangyack caused. They attack the Zangyack and win their first battle, but now they have gotten to much fame as bounties are put on them. The team now try to find anyway of finding the treasure and survive from the Zangyack attacking them. Along the way they will meet the past warriors as they will help them retrieve the great powers of the Sentai.
There are five members in the team and yes they are indeed aliens because they come from different planets. The leader is Marvelous and along with a cool jacket he is a completely awesome leader as he leads his team well. He knows how to fight as he mostly uses a gun and sword his style of fighting can look carefree at times which he can be at times. Like other past red warriors though his back story comes an important part of the plot as his past rival returns. He was originally part of the Red Pirates as he was with Aka Red and Basco as they went around space to find the Ranger Keys. Soon Basco betrays them though so he can have the keys for himself as he tries to turn them in. Marvelous escapes with the keys and Navi, but it seems that Aka Red didn't make it. When Basco comes back his personality changes greatly as he wants revenge for the death of Aka Red and won't have Basco get in the way of his dreams. When Marvelous was alone he started to recruit more team mates along the way. First is Joe who becomes Gokai Blue and he is the silent and tough guy like Abare Blue. He does have a soft spot though because of his past of being part of the Zangyack back then. He couldn't take it though and he tries to leave along with his friend Cid, but Cid is captured. Joe is left to fight alone, but Marve comes along and saves him and there he recruits him because of his skills. Luka was next as she was in poverty because of the Zangyack and she started to loss many things in her life. It mostly seems that she is greedy, but she has her own motives. One day she tries to steal from the Zangyack, but she is caught. While fighting the troops Marve and Joe helped out and she was recruited there. Doc was next, but his name is Don. He is mostly a coward who hates to fight, but one day he helps out the crew by doing simple chores and Marve is impressed by him and recruits him. Unlike the others though his fighting style is random and he just pulls things off. Ahim was a princess on her home planet, but it was destroyed by the Zangyack and she joins the team to give hope to any survivors. She may not seem like a fighter as she acts very friendly and even motherly, but when she fights she can really let loose. Finally is Gai who is a human as he gets his powers from past warriors who have died. He tries to become a member, but he has to impress the team first. He is also a complete fan of the Sentai as he knows all of them and when he meets any past heroes he freaks out.
Next are the villains as they are the Zangyack. An empire that controls the whole universe with an iron fist as they attack, enslave, and destroy many planets. The fleet that is sent to Earth is lead by Warz Gil who is the son of the Emperor. He mostly acts like a spoiled brat most of the time when his plans fail, but in soon time he starts to change. Barizorg is Gil's bodyguard as he mostly stays silent and remains a mystery, but who is he? Insarn is also a member as she mostly is there because she has knowledge in science and helps with making plans. To help as well is Damaras who is very protective of the prince and tries to keep him calm. New Zangyack members show up, but there isn't much to say about them its just the Emperor with one of his right hand men. The best villain though is Basco who is the rival of Marve as he finds a new partner, Sally a monkey like creature. When they first meet and has even more ranger keys as he summons past sixth rangers to fight the team. His style of living is that he has to lose something to gain anything which is why he tries to get rid of the Red Pirates so he could have the ranger keys and the treasure. He wants the treasure as well, but he will let the team do some of the work so he could just finish them off and just stop there.
Pros- This is an anniversary series not only does the team use past powers, but they also meet past warriors. These episodes are mostly tributes to the past as they use elements from those series. Each have some form of nostalgia to them as they can bring simple things or even jokes referencing the series. Heck even the main characters are tributes to the usual type of characters in Sentai. The series uses a lot of nostalgia which is the best part because they bring back many actors as this is the best way to use the nostalgia factor. Each episode also has an important fight that has the instrumental opening of the series play during the fights, it just brings a lot memories. I really like that the team still fight like themselves though, they may have different powers, but they still fight like themselves. The best example is Doc who has a very improved style of fighting and even with becoming different rangers he can still stick to his comedic fighting. Each character has a back story of some type and it makes you feel for the characters which is another great thing. This is probably the best cast I have seen, again these characters are tributes and even mix character traits which works very well and all the actors are great not a single bad one! The fights are simply amazing as its great to see the past powers be used in today's time and it keeps fights fresh as the team can think of many combinations. Basco is the best villain no doubt as he is tough and is a guy you love to hate. He is completely vile and he stays like that which is the best part!
They even teamed up with some past warriors!
Cons- Now the series didn't have tributes for every series, but I was expecting and anyways the series still wanted to focus on the story itself. The Zangyack are okay most of the time and they are only great in their final episodes, but they mostly just stay bland which is disappointing.
The biggest flaw of the series
Overall- Even with the Zangyack just acting like usual villains from the showa era the series is an absolute watch! Its one of the best Sentai... no one of the best Toku shows! The anniversary theme is heavily used and can bring nostalgic moments. The story still stays intact and so what the series didn't have a tribute for ever series they still got at least one actor from all 34 series! With that its better to see the series give focus on the story then the nostalgia. The nostalgia is very well done, but it shouldn't be the major focus its great to see that the series still carries it's own story. All the heroes are great and the rival villain Basco is simply amazing! This would be a great start to new fans because it shows what the series is like and can give interest in other series. In the end the series only big flaw are the main villains, but everything balances perfectly as we get great development and great tributes to the franchise. I will give it an A+ even with the Zangyack its a very little flaw because the series just has way too much stuff to love.

Gokaiger Episode 51 Review: Thank You Space Pirates (Spoiler Alert!!!!!)

The last episode begins with a recap of the previous episode where the gang make a comeback. After the usual opening to finales the team start to fight Dairando. The first attack is the Gokai Scramble, but Dairando easily blocks it away, but he is hit by Gai's Shooting Star attack. Things get interrupted though as the Zangyack fleet comes back and fires at the Gokaigers. Things don't look well as the team are knocked out of their transformations and the fleet start to destroy the city. Luckily though the Free Joker (Basco's ship) appears and Navi is piloting it?! She then goes full on into the battle with a barrier on the ship. Navi's brave move got Marvelous thinking of a plan to finish the fight, as they will use the Free Joker to ram the Gigant Horse. Since Marve thought of it he will go and Joe tells Gai to go with him. Dairando appears again as Marve and Gai leave and Joe takes initiative as the four transforms and fight. Somehow Marve and Gai get on the ship and Marve takes the lead as he takes the ship straight to the Gigant Horse. The barrier only protects the ship for a little while as it couldn't with stand all the attacks, but the first part of the plan works as the ship rams into the Gigant Horse.
After Marve tosses Navi out of the ship the two transform and get out before the Free Joker is destroyed. They then have to face a large swarm of Zangyack troops. Meanwhile Dairando seems to be winning his fight and the fleet is still continuing its onslaught. Gai and Marve reach up to the Emperor though as Gai attacks first, but he is blocked by Gil when he is still sitting down! Both of the heroes attack him, but he continues to block their attacks while still sitting! He finally gets out of his chair as Gai knocks him away with the Gold Mode. The two start to fight and Gil is still being the bad ass he is and gets Gai down, but while he was fighting Marve takes control of the ship. Gai was only distracting Gil for the meantime and Marve makes the ship fire away at the other ships and destroys the whole fleet! Dairando sees this and is shocked to see all of them get destroyed and the four see this as an opportunity. Joe transforms into Dekamaster and fires at Dairando's back. The others then transform into other extra heroes, Luka (Shinken Red Hime), Doc (Zuuban), and Ahim (Magi Mother). With the fleet gone Marve helps Gai in the fight, but Gil is still wrecking them. With the other four, Ahim uses a barrier to block an attack, Luka uses the Daizanto to fire at Dai, and Doc transforms into the sword form as Joe uses him. Joe uses both swords and uses Cid's special move and they finish Dairando with the Blue Charge from the Galleon Buster even with the team knocked out of their transformations.
Now with Dairando dead the only one left is Gil, but he is much tougher as he is easily beating up Gai and Marvelous. They try to block one of his attacks, but they are knocked back and Gai's Gold Mode cancels out. They get ready to use their Final Waves as the Emperor was expecting them to attack him, but they fire at computer and with that distraction the two finally get some hits on him. Gai even gets a stab on Gil and shoves him into the busted computer and they fire their Final Waves at him. With all the destruction though all the hardware around them start to explode and the ship starts to fall. The team see the falling ship and think the worse, but Marve and Gai saved themselves by using Gosei Red and Go-on Wings. It looks like they have won, but Gil is still alive and can still fight! Marve though says that they cannot be defeated because they have the powers of past warriors who protected this planet. The Emperor doesn't care about their speech and fires at them, but Gai and Marve block his attack. The team transform then and begin their role call as their helmets appear after they say their names.
AWESOME!!
The final fight begins and it starts out with Gai transforming into Gosei Knight as he blocks an attack. Marve turns into Aka Ranger while Joe is Dia Jack, but they are blocked. Doc who is Battle Kenya and Luka who is Vul Panther come in and still no hits and even Ahim can't make contact as Denji Pink. Gai who is still Knight tries to distract him while Marve becomes Bouken Red and Joe who turns into Tenma Ranger and try to attack him with rods. He still blocks their attacks and even with clone summoning attacks from Dyna Black (Doc) and Yellow Mask (Luka). Gai becomes Shurikenger and uses Flowering Drive while Ahim is Ninja White and uses Paper Crane Flock. Gil is still impressively blocking these attacks as he fires at the teams, but they easily dodge his attacks. Ahim becomes Goggle Pink and Luka becomes Five Yellow as they bind Gil's arms with their ribbons. They finally get a hit as Marve becomes Red Racer, Joe is Go-on Blue, and Doc is Black Turbo as they drift around him and bash him with their fists! The two girls then become Ptrea Ranger and Abare Yellow and use the Ptrea Arrow and Abalaser, but he just blocks again (dang he is good!). With Gingared (Marve) and Kuro Kishi (Gai) though they use Blazing Mane as Joe (Blue Three) and Doc (Change Griffin) fly at him and hit him. Then Red Hawk (Marve), Gao Yellow (Luka), and Pink Flash (Ahim) do the same after the two. Doc who is MegaBlack uses the Battle Rizer and Joe who is Go Blue uses the V Mode Bracelt to punch him. Ahim (Time Pink) uses the Vol Sniper while Luka (Yellow Lion) shoots with the Lion Bazooka. Then Gai (Kingranger) and Marve (Ohred) slash the Emperor up. The fight is still not over (which is not a bad thing just a lot to type) as the team go into Super Ranger! Marve becomes Hyper Shinkenred, Joe is Super Gosei Blue, Luka is Super Geki Yellow, Doc is Deka Green Swat Mode, Ahim is Legend Magi Pink, and Gai is in Gold Mode. First Doc fires at him as Joe, Ahim, and Luka blast and slash him. After Marve slashes Gil with the Kyoryumar (Still not a shark!) as he gives Gai a boost into the sky. With Gai in the air he uses Legend Crush on Gil. To finish things off the team combine their attacks to use Gokai Shooting Slash, but Gil still won't go down! Gai though jumps out after an attack with the Galleon Buster as he uses the Show Stopper Wave (Okay?) to finish Gil off for good!
The fight is finally over and the team has finally defeated the Zangyack! They are full of excitement, but they soon fall back to the ground because after a fight like that I would rest too. After several months we see the team getting some food at the restaurant from episode 1. There Luka is reading a newspaper with the news of the Zangyack starting to die out as they are separating. Gai then comes in saying he has made all of his goodbyes. The next goal now is the second greatest treasure in the universe, but the only clue they got is that its at the Zangyack's home planet. The team start to go to their ship, but all of a sudden an elementary class shows up who were in the first episode. They want their autographs for saving the world, but they respond saying that they didn't do any of that. They are space pirates and their only goal is treasure, but Gai will still give an autograph later. Before they leave though they decide to give back the Sentai Powers back to their original owners. We lastly see Akared on the ship as he nods to Marvelous and vanishes (is he alive?!). As they leave we see some of the past warriors getting their powers back. The last one we see is Akaranger! He says that they have done it and now its time for them to seize it for their sakes as he transforms and walks away. We then see our heroes going into space and heading for the Zangyack world (wait how is Gai going to breathe?!).
That's the end of Gokaiger and this episode was AMAZING! The end of the story is very nice as our heroes try to keep their images as pirates. I really loved them seeing past things from the first episode and seeing how they changed even though they don't want to appear as they did. The fights were simply flawless as the Emperor was a great fighter and that difficulty made the fights more suspenseful. The final fight had so many Ranger Keys used and it was awesome seeing many different powers work together. Also they finally used special forms of the warriors which again is AWESOME! Then we see more past warriors getting their powers back, sure they could have made episode appearances, but seeing them in the end credits was very nice. Overall this episode is a perfect end to the amazing series and like Double I'm going to miss it a lot. Great action, the characters are amazing as ever, and its a great ending, an A+
Next Week: Ready... Go!

Gokaiger Episode 50 Review: The Finale Begins (Spoiler Alert!!!)

The episode starts off where the last episode ended as our heroes quickly change back and go into their mechs to fight off the fleet. At first they try their own weapons, but with the heavy numbers they soon start to use the Grand Powers. Starting with Dekaranger as they use the attack and summon Pat Striker and start summoning more of the grand powers, but not Ninjaman. With the team using Magiranger's powers Gai decides to take flight as well as he uses Megaranger's grand powers. The wing of the Mega Winger equips to Gozyujin and uses Gokai Spartan. The team then release Magi Dragon and use Goranger's powers to become Goren Gokai-oh! Along with that they use Dynamic Bomber (Dynaman's powers) and Jet Phoenix (Jetman's powers) as the strong attacks take down many ships. There are much more to take care of though as they try to dodge the attacks of the enemy. During this the summons are being taken down one by one and the team are shot down by the Emperor. He then fires at Gokai-oh one more time as the team are forced out of the ship and luckily the stays intact. The villains think that the Gokaigers are done for as the Emperor makes a speech to the humans about their loss. Then by tomorrow morning the Zangyack will start to kill all the humans on the planet.
The team who have been separated during the fight, start to doubt themselves because of the loss and think of the treasure as it seems to be the only way to beat the Zangyack. No decision will be made yet until they reach the Galleon as the team start to move out. With Gai he sees a mother trapped under rubble from the attack as her son stays with her. Gai tries to lift the metal, but he almost lets go! Luckily someone comes in and helps Gai as the two save the mother. Gai then realizes that the man is Goushi who is Mammoth Ranger from Zyuranger and Gai helps him with taking care of the mother and son. Ahim and Luka see the mother and daughter from the GoGoV tribute episode as the two are spotted by the Zangyack. The two save them and the little girl talks about her bravery as she tried to protect her mother and sister. Even though she had fear, she had to push that aside to do what she can do. Doc and Joe see Professor Amazi from Goseiger helping out people and encouraging them that the heroes have faced worse than this. Also helping him is Yuka from Magiranger as she talks to a girl about how the Sentai have taught her to use the magic of courage as she gives a Magired plush to the girl. With Marve he runs into the boy from episode two as he fights a couple of Zangyack troops on his own. He actually puts up a good fight, but Marve saves him in the end. The two talk about his strength and even if he isn't a ranger he can still fight and protect people in his own way.
At night the team find the ship and Navi who still was holding onto the treasure. There the team talk about how they could possibly fight the Zangyack. There the odds are low as they have way smaller numbers and the Galleon cannot be fixed before tomorrow. Gai says that they should use the treasure because the other teams would want it that way. Gai talks about his meeting with Goushi as Goushi talks about the Legends War as they only sent the Zangyack away for an amount of time. What they wanted to do is to make the universe a lot more peaceful and now the Gokaigers can make that dream a reality. Even with the loss of the Sentai, Goushi knows that getting rid of the Zangyack should be the only thing that needs to be focused on. He then brings up that everyone back then was ready to die during the Legends War so it doesn't matter if they vanish now. With this in Gai's head he wants to use the treasure, but no one else wants to. The team have to try to take the Zangyack down by themselves as they talk about what they learned from this day. Even if they wanted their lives back they already accepted what has already happened to them. Gai then follows what they say as he throws the treasure and destroys it!
The sun has risen up as the Zangyack begin their attack on the humans, but the team stops them. After a speech about protecting the world, the team transform and fight! The team easily take down the little troops, but when the red guards appear Gai transforms into Dragon Ranger and gives Marvelous the armor. Marve then transforms into Armored Tyranno Ranger as he gets the two off guard as the rest of the team finishes them off with their Final Waves. The episode ends with the team going into their fight with Dairando.
That's episode 50 and its a good beginning for the finale. First the mecha fight was really good as the team uses more Grand Powers and bring back some old ones. There were nice interactions with other characters and it was really nice to see other older characters who weren't rangers appear in the series for a cameo. Goushi was great as he tells Gai to use the treasure for the Earth, but I wonder how he feels about the team disregarding what he said? I bet he's more happy to see them continuing their fight and he could have only said that to Gai because he thought the others were dead. Reminding me of Zyuranger the appearance of Amored Tyranno Ranger was nice, but I was hoping for a Zyuranger tribute fight. It was a great couple of seconds, but that's it. Overall a good episode, but a little disappointing though, a B+

Gokaiger Episode 49 Review: Da Na Na Na! (Spolier Alert!!!)

First thing, I'm sorry that this review took a little longer to do. I have been very busy and I was planning to do it yesterday, but I had to stay at work. Now let's get this episode reviewed! We start the episode with the ground talking about the five sets of keys as Marve walks in. Marvelous wants to get the treasure now, but the others have been thinking about the powers from Basco. Since he stole them from the team is it really okay just to use them without permission? All of a sudden though the keys glow and the team are sent to a bright white room. There we see the sets of keys floating and soon members of the team appear! Remi (Five Yellow), Akira (Blue Mask), Dai (Green Flash), Hayate (Black Griffin), and Hiba (Vul Eagle II) congratulate the six for reaching this far and they want them to use their powers. After they are sent back to the ship, Gai starts to freak out like usual, but now with their permission they can finally go for the treasure. One small issue though, how will Navi turn into the door. From what Basco has said she is the door to the treasure, but she doesn't know how to so the team violently try to change her. With the Zangyack, the reinforcements will becoming soon now as Insarn is happy to hear the news. She isn't out of trouble though since she was part of the original group and the death of Gil still stays strong. The emperor now gives her one more chance to redeem herself.
After attacking Navi she still doesn't turn into a door, but soon all the keys in the chest start to glow and fire a beam at Navi. She then transforms into a door as she is covered in locks with Sentai logos on them. The team quickly notice that there are 34 locks, so they use the Red Ranger Keys to unlock the door. The door opens and beyond the door is a cave as Marvelous goes in first as the others follow. They reach a dead end, but soon the treasure is revealed when light shines on it. It seems a little small though, but Marve still picks it up and now the greatest treasure in the universe is theirs! The treasure then starts to talk saying that they are in the center of the Earth! Shocked to see talking treasure, but it's not the treasure that is talking, but the will of the Earth. It talks about using the 34 Super Sentai powers and if so the team can change the universe! Gai sees this has a good thing because they can get rid of the Zangyack with this. Everyone can also get their past lives back as their planets can be revived. Ahin and Doc can get their home back, Luka can live with her sister again, and Joe can bring Sid back.
Everyone is excited about this news as they start to leave. After exiting the door they begin to use the treasure, but Doc thinks of something though. If they use the Grand Powers, what will happen to them? The Earth replies by saying they will vanish as that seems to be a no duh moment. Doc replies with what Hiba said about using their powers and if they use the powers, they could be gone forever! This is all true as the Earth says if they use the powers the existence of the Super Sentai will be gone as they will be erased completely. Gai tries to get it to talk again, but they are soon attacked by Insarn and her robot. The team quickly fight back with Gokai-oh and Gozyujin. It seems that Insarn had a dream of becoming one of the greatest scientists, but without the Gokaigers' heads she will never get promoted. The robot is actually strong as it fights off the two easily and soon Zugormin appear and attack them. Gai takes them on as Gokai-oh goes into Hurricane mode. Gai easily defeats the two troops, but four more appear. With the Gokaigers, they try to use Furai Maru's special attack, but Insarn's barrier deflects him. The team then start to use two of the new powers as they use Changeman and Maskman. Gokai Power Bazooka (Changeman's powers) breaks through the barrier, Gokai Aura Galaxy (Maskman's powers) breaks the arms off of the robot, and they finish the robot off with Shinken Gokai-oh.
Insarn survives though as the team fight her as Gai will try to survive. When the team get back to the ground they are quickly attacked by the Red Zugormin as they were sent by Dairando. Insarn then fires at the team with missiles and she uses it again, but the team deflect the attack with Magiranger. The team then use different keys to become Vul Eagle (Marve), Black Griffin (Doc), Green Flash (Ahim), Blue Mask (Joe), and Five Yellow (Luka). Gai uses the Sharp Slash to attack as the team face off Insarn and the Red troops. They cut to one member as they play an instrumental of the team just like other tributes, but with five different songs this time it just gets me hyped more. Doc uses the Magma Galaxy, Ahim uses the Prism Kaisers along with Rolling Knuckles, Joe uses Masky Slash (a perfect transformation for Joe I must say even though Akira acts different, they both are skilled in using two swords), Luka uses the Melody Takt to tie up the guard and then blasts him with the Fiveblaster, finally we see Marve fighting Insarn as he uses Flying Win Reverse! The troops are killed off as Gai finishes his foes off with Triple Drill Dream. With Insarn she is killed by the Galleon Buster as she cries out the Emperor's name before exploding. All seems well now, but the Zangyack forces show up and it is much bigger than the Legends War. We see the team trying to run away, but there are too many ships as they keep firing at them!
I loved this part sooooo much!
That's episode 49 and its really good. First the treasure is good because it gives hope to the team at first, but how will things change if all Super Sentai are gone? This made some really good drama and I loved to see how happy everyone was and then actually stopped to think about the consequences. Insarn was strong in this episode, but its too late for me to start caring for her since I barely knew her. I was actually thinking she would survive and try to get Red Racer again. The use of the five veteran actors was really awesome because just seeing them is a plus and I liked how the series did it. First they may have just appeared, but I like that the series focused on the actual plot before tribute episodes because seeing Basco getting those powers did show something. What's great though is the dream team fight, this is my absolute favorite fight in the series because first they're all pre zyu rangers, hearing five different songs in the fight was just got me more hyped again and again, and seeing the team using them solo was nice. That is a flaw though because I was hoping that the five would use completely different powers together like they did with the all green transformation. Even the mecha fight was great because the use of new powers and bringing back some old ones kept the fight fresh. Overall it's a good drama episode with great action, but again the villains still aren't doing much, an A.

Gokaiger Episode 48 Review: Bite the Dust (Spoiler Alert!!!)

Well we start off this episode recapping the greatness from the last episode has Basco finally wins. With the death of Sally he has taken all the keys, Navi, and the Galleon. Everyone starts to wake up including and they realize that after their loss, Basco has taken their ranger keys. Even access to the Galleon is impossible and Navi isn't responding. Meanwhile with Basco he puts the great powers of the five he has to the sets of keys. Navi who is tied up escapes by using a knife to cut herself free. Basco locks up the place and uses the Gokaiger keys for his summons. With the gang, they hide in an abandoned church and all of their hope is gone as they think Basco will get the treasure. A good question is brought up though by Ahim and that is what Marvelous was going to do with the treasure. He doesn't know though and doesn't even know what it is exactly. The team try to think of what it could be like a lot of gold or something worth a lot of wealth. Marvelous though just wants the treasure because it is the most wanted thing by all pirates and having that would be like owning the whole universe. He doesn't want to give up though because if he does the dream will just vanish. The scene is interrupted though as Navi calls Luka.
Navi tells them where the Galleon is, but stops because of Gokai Red. She hides for a while and whispers for help. With this the gang has one more shot at Basco and to save dreams. Marvelous tries to go with them, but he is held back because of his injuries. The five find the ship, jump down, and break into the Galleon. The plan is now to split up and meet back at the cabin and hopefully they will get Basco off guard. The Gokaiger summons though appear as they have to fight themselves! Doc also notices about his own posing as the summon just wipes it's hands on the pants. A fight begins between the gang and their Sentai powers and if they defeat them they can take their powers back. Navi thinks she got away from Gokai Red, but it tricks her and finds her easily. The fight seems to be on the hero's side as they steal their own weapons from the summons and can easily out skill them. Back with Marve and he tries to leave, but his wounds stop him as he notices what he has been carrying onto. It was a part of the charm that Sally had on before she was killed in the explosion. We also find out that when Marve tried to get it away from Sally, she put the bomb inside of herself to save him.
Navi is caught by Gokai Red and Basco tells her about her purpose and she is the door to the greatest treasure! The summons also return and Basco tries to get them back into their key form, but Blue shoots at him. The team won and took back their keys, but Basco still has Red on his side as he appears in his monster form. The team fight the red summon by transforming into other red rangers and they easily defeat it and get that key back. The team use the Galleon Buster with Special Charge this time to attack Basco, but he easily reflects the attack back at them. He gets the Buster and takes back the five keys and he gets his gun to ready to finish them off. Luckily though Marvelous appears and stops him before he could shoot. Even with his injuries he still wants to fight Basco because its all going to end now. Before their fight Basco tells Marve about AkaRed and how he came from this planet. He also says that AkaRed used the treasure as bait and was gathering the keys so that the heroes could get their powers back. Basco even goes farther by saying he didn't betray him at all, but it was AkaRed who betrayed them from the start. That doesn't matter though, Marve isn't part of the Red Pirates anymore and everything is gathered for the treasure. He fights for the Gokaigers' dream now and anyone who wants to get in the way will get blown away.
Now the final fight begins as Basco attacks and Marvelous gets his key back from Joe and transforms. The fight seems even as they both blow each other away with their guns. The two both use their finishers as the attacks clash and explode. Their weapons get mixed up as Marve fights with two swords and Basco uses both of the guns. Basco tries to shoot him down, but Marve keeps blocking the shots and reaches him. Basco though blocks both of the swords and shoots him down sending him away. Marve though jumps back and throws the sword at him knocking the Gokai Gun out of Basco's hand. Basco then uses his speed attack and continues to shoot at Marve. The fight seems over as Basco prepares for the final shot, but Marve dodges it though and picks up the sword again. To keep Basco from moving though, Marve stomps on his foot and stabs the sword into both of their feet! Marve slashes Basco close range and Basco shoots at Marve close range as an explosion covers the two. The team now in shock thinking that their captain could be dead as the two are lying down on the ground. Basco though gets up first, but it seems he doesn't have much time left. Marvelous though gets up as well and the bullet didn't go through his flesh, but it got stuck into the part of the charm. Basco realizes what it is and dies with a smirk on his face. Basco's body vanishes away as the keys are the only things left as Marvelous picks them up and then falls on the ground. With Basco gone now they can finally get to the treasure!
That's episode 48 and OMG!!!!! This episode arc is simply the best. First there is Basco who is just a great villain overall. He uses betrayal to move himself up and it has been working for him, but in the end it what causes him to lose. I loved seeing his reaction that charm blocked the bullet because he finally sees that betrayal doesn't work. This doesn't mean that he regrets anything he has done, but he accepts his defeat. The episode also makes me feel for Sally so much more because for her last act she wanted to be a hero. Again it shows that Sally finally sees what is right and decides to offer her life for another. Marvelous was in top form as well because of his passion for his dreams and how that pushed him even now. The fights were flawless with the team facing their own powers was great with showing that skill can always win. Also the final fight between Basco and Marve is absolutely the best fight in the series! The two were very even and such great choreography, this is why I like seeing live action fights and not the CGI stuff. The amount of effort that was put into the fight just makes it feel better than just using computer animations to do the whole fight. Overall this is another amazing episode for the series and one of the best. The drama was really well done and held a great amount of suspense and the fights did the same and were just done perfectly. This episode is easily an A+!!! I also noticed that this is my 200th post! Really good timing I must say to have a review like this for the 200th post (I didn't even notice after I finished the post, lol).

Gokaiger Episode 47 Review: Onore!!! (Spoiler Alert!!!)

The time has finally come, with all the grand powers collected the only thing left is to see which group will get them all. Marvelous and the crew try to think of a way to go against Basco and finding him will be a hard task since his ship doesn't appear on radar. Ahim thinks of a plan to just call him since he is after them as well, so luring him out will be easier than looking for him. Marve gives it a shot and Basco actually picks up and he wants the duel to be tomorrow, but Basco doesn't like that and anyways he found them already. So he summons two of his roids to attack the ship. The two roids get the first attack by hardening them with gold (which reminds me of Bara Gold from Ohranger) and the other one attacks with sun powers. Even with a barrage of special attacks the two roids don't go down yet as the team go into Kazen form. During the fight though Basco knows that they will win and these are the last of his robots and he can't get help from the Zangyack either. The team defeat the roids who hug before their death.... alright then. They look around for Basco and they see him pointing his gun at Sally and soon firing at her! Marve then flashes back to the past when he was betrayed by Basco and feels pity for Sally so he gets her on the ship to treat her wounds.
Sally though is still a little frantic and is constantly moving around. Gai though tries to talk like a monkey like Doc did before as Luka remembers that and he soon joins Gai in the talk. Another flashback of Marve's as it shows us that he was good friend with Basco before as he was treating his wounds and then looks back onto the day when he betrayed him. Marve goes outside and Joe follows him and wonders what he is thinking of doing. Joe thinks this is a trap though, but even if that was an act, Sally could be betrayed by Basco some other time. Anyways Marve is going to let her go after her wounds have healed, but Joe has to ask if that's true because Marve is actually a lot softer than he appears to be. Back with Basco and we see that all of this is a trap by Basco. The plan is to have Sally steal the treasure chest and after giving her a charm he points his gun at her. During that night Sally wakes herself up and sees the treasure chest. She tries to go for it, but when she sees her bandages and thinks about the team helping her. Sally has trouble though deciding what to do because there is bananas on one side or the kindness on the other side. In the end though Sally decides to side with Basco as she grabs the chest.
By morning Sally reaches up to Basco with the chest in her hands. While running to him though she thinks about how he shot her from before. After taking one more step the Gokaigers come out as they were following Sally. Also the chest is a fake, but they still are mad at Basco for overdoing it. Marvelous then asks Sally is she really does see Basco as her partner. Basco sees this as a way to sway Sally to their side, but after Gai talks back at him for attacking her Basco replies with that she is as happy to follow his orders. She is easily tempted though by a banana and starts to go to Basco, but Marve stops her. Sally starts to struggle again, but this time she goes to the hero's side. At first Basco looks mad, but he starts to laugh and says would he trust a monkey. There was a second part to his plan and with the team away from the Galleon he also plans to get rid of Marvelous with a bomb inside of the charm! He activates it and Marve tries to get it, but it explodes knocking Marve out and killing Sally! The rest of the team is completely pissed off and they fight Basco. The team use Dairanger, Hurricanger, and Gingaman, but Basco easily counters back and defeats them. Now with team defeated, Basco takes the Galleon for himself and even takes the Gokaiger keys! Now that Basco has gotten everything it seems that all is lost and he will gain the greatest treasure in the universe.
That's episode 47 and it's probably one of the best episodes in the series and franchise I must say. First I never hated Sally because she was just a simple character who just followed Basco. This episode really shown her conscious finally kicking in and seeing that Basco is not for her. Basco himself never disappoints me because this guy is just low and with killing his own partner is the worst thing he has done. It even plays out like how Basco betrays AkaRed because he sets up a trap and gets rid of them, even though I don't think he was planning on killing AkaRed. Marvelous was great as well because showing his true emotions is great and fit for this episode because Sally has been shot down by Basco which reminds him of his past. There is one odd thing though, during the Megaranger tribute episode he was actually worried about Sally. I guess this shows that he grew away from that and decides to get rid of her. The fights were great including the giant fight because having challenging foes is always good for intense scenes. I also see a little tribute where the team uses Dairanger to fight Basco because of when the Dairanger team had to fight Jin when Ryou couldn't fight. Overall a great dramatic episode showing why rival villains are much better than the main villains, an A+
Next Week: The Rivals Clash!
