Debate: Dairanger or Gokaiger

I have brought this up from my Dairanger review and I'm having a tough time deciding which series is my favorite. I have made my decision though and will compare the two in many categories.

Plot
Dairanger is a series that is mostly a war between two tribes as one of them comes back after many years. There are many things kept secret though as the heroes will find out many truths about their allies and enemies. Gokaiger is about a group of space pirates coming to Earth to find the greastest treasure in the universe. Before their arrival though there was the Legends War where all past Sentai warriors fight the Zangyack as they use all their powers to destroy them. Luckily they lived, but now have lost their powers, but the pirates have all their powers in form of the Ranger Keys. In their adventure they will learn about the true spirit of the Super Sentai and become heroes. Both have good overall plots, but I would have to go with Dairanger because I like the many twists there were and how it connected many characters. Gokaiger was mostly simple just with a lot of things added on like the rivalry with Basco.
You can say the same with Dairanger has there are a lot of added in sub plots, but overall the war story has a lot of secrets.

Heroes
Dairanger's heroes are people who have to forget their lives right now to fight the Gorma. The characters mostly go through really tough times as they meet many new characters to develop them further like Ryou and Jin. The two were tough rivals, but Ryou learned a lot from him as so did the others with their counterparts. Gokaiger's characters are mostly tributes in their own way like Marve is the bold leader with a dark past. We actually learn about them as the story continues and what hardships they had to deal before they became a team member. This time the point goes to Gokaiger because has I said the characters are tributes to the franchise and I liked that we learn about them and they stay the same throughout the series. Development is great, but it's better when a character stays the same as they are already enjoyable.
Number one reason why Gokaiger will be remembered for a long time

Villains
In Dairanger the villains are the Gorma the tribe that reawakens to kill off the human race. The main villain of the series is Shadam and he did a lot in the series as he is mostly connected to most of the twists. He also has a great passion and he did a lot to make sure he won as he used his own comrades to get it. The Zangyack are the villains in Gokaiger as another fleet comes to Earth as they are lead by the Prince, Warz Gil. He acts like a spoiled brat and whenever something fails he goes into a blind fury, now as annoying it can be it can also be funny. You all know where I'm going with this though, point to Dairanger. The Gorma are just way better because unlike the Zangyack the Gorma are actually have focus. The Zangyack are just simply there to be villains and even with Basco he cannot save the whole thing. Also where Gokaiger had one great villain, Dairanger only had one bad villain.
I couldn't like her at all, but at least the other villains were great

Action
A big factor of any Sentai series are the fights as Dairanger uses their motif of martial arts in them. Each member and even some villains have their own skills and powers which keep things nice and fresh. Dairanger also has some great out of suit action and for their robot fights it's really good because I think the 90's had some of the best robots. Gokaiger keep their fights fresh with the many countless combinations with the Ranger Keys. They can transform into the whole team or just randomize them like having all the same color. Their robot fights though are mixed up because even with great arsenals from the Great Powers of the Sentai they can get boring fast. Some don't even last a long time and the series uses a lot of powers way too much, so point to Dairanger. Even with the great combination fights and tribute fights from Gokaiger, Dairanger has great out of suit action and great robot fights.
Dairanger still has some of my favorite mechas

Episodes
Dairanger ran for 50 episodes while Gokaiger went with 51 episodes so both are pretty close to length, but Dairanger had a shorter run time. This was common in the 90's has the series had a much shorter amount of minutes. This doesn't kill the show though as everything still feels nice and paced. With Gokaiger again it's a mixed bag as I can't enjoy every episode the same for Dairanger, but whenever Gokaiger had a filler episode it was usually boring. Some people complain that Dairanger is full of too many cliches with their little episodes. Even if I see them those cliches are mostly from Chinese fighting movies and Dairanger did have that motif so it can get away with it. Gokaiger also has that same issue, since it's a tribute series it does follow some Super Sentai cliches. Both series can get away with their cliches, but Gokaiger wins mostly because the last episode and if you saw the Dairanger finale you know what I'm talking about.
The final episode for Gokaiger was simply amazing!

Verdict
You see why this is a tough pick, Gokaiger has little flaws and the same can go for Dairanger. In the end though I have to pick...
Dairanger!
The Dairanger series has a much better way of telling a story and it did a lot to affect the franchise. Also the villain were just much better as they had more connections to the story and the sub plots. The action is also a little better because of out of suit action and the robot fights. Gokaiger is still a great series, but there is only one strong villain as the others seemed forgotten and didn't do much expect to be evil. The fights actually got a little old as well as the series didn't mix it up that much as some powers were barely every used. This is my own opinion so you can leave your own opinions as well in the comments below.

Kamen Rider Fourze Episode 24 Review: Black Swan

Continuing from the last episode we see Cygnus fighting Fourze as he says his name will continue to spread. After his little speech he blasts the two heroes and flees and Meteor has left as well. We then see Ryusei and he is completely pissed at Cygnus and he will get his payback! After the opening we see Ryusei going to the Rabbit Hutch, but when he opens the locker he finds Tomoko. She isn't happy about him abandoning her as she gets the roid to give Ryusei a cold shower. She forgives him though as Meteor appeared to protect her anyways and now she will get revenge for him. With the club they talk about the number one possible suspect to be Cygnus is Misa. Jake talks about her past as she wasn't that good at ballet until Cygnus appeared and now Gen will go back to the society to talk to her. Meanwhile we see Kijima trying to spread switches around, but Hayami stops him. Hayami wants Kijima to only assist him and not act on his own and Kijima isn't happy with this superior act. Hayami then tells Kijima about Cygnus and that Fourze shouldn't interrupt and he goes surprisingly. Back with Ryusei as he is hanging with Tomoko as she tries to get a physic imprint? She tries this at the first time she saw Cygnus and she says that it could help her finding out the truth even though she doesn't have any real powers.
Back at the UDS we see Eguchi lying about a good deed and Misa catches onto his lie easily and he gets minus 50 points. Misa starts to lecture Eguchi about lying and how it's against the rules of the society, but Gen jumps in saying that kindness shouldn't be forced. He also just says that Misa is Cygnus and she agrees? (well that's easy) Actually she was just saying it as a metaphor and says everyone is Cygnus and before the two could say anything else they are kicked out. Back with Tomoko and she is not finding any physics imprints, but she still continues, but where now? Tomoko remembers the spot where Eguchi's story and decides the check that area. Now Gen and Yuuki and hitting baseballs along with Eguchi and he is agreeing with them about Cygnus' false justice. It seems he saw the fight from the last episode and he knows that he has been attacking other students. Yuuki wonders how he keeps finding Cyngus as Eguchi just says he has some luck because the first hero he saw was Fourze when he was fighting the Lynx Zodiart. He then wanted to be a hero, but being a hero is a tough task and ever since Cygnus saved him he wants to be a hero like him and still wants to believe in him. Eguchi is fine though with the society being made on a false hero because the club was made from people who were saved from Cygnus, including Misa.
Kijima then appears and threatens the three that they shouldn't be getting involved too much as Eguchi runs away and Kijima transforms. Gen finds out that Kijima knows more then he does so he transforms into Fourze and fights him. Back with Tomoko still trying to find some imprints and this time she gets something! She then notices Eguchi walking down the steps and before she could talk to him Ryusei grabs her as the two hide. Eguchi is acting strangely so they decide to watch him and then Cygnus appears! Eguchi wants to talk to him, but Cygnus attacks him saying that he is a traitor. Ryusei captures the moments with the Burger roid as Gen's fight is not going well. He uses the Shield switch hoping it can defend him, but Cancer just slashes through it like everything else. For the next option he goes into Elek States and not even those attacks work on him. Plan C is then going into Fire States as Gen tries to burn him, but Cancer cuts through the flames and cuts some of the area as he then leaves for now. Back with the club and now their number one suspect is not an option anymore so who is Cygnus then? Ryusei and Tomoko comes in and show them what they have filmed from before. Somehow they know who Cygnus is from that moment and Miu's plan is to just take the switch, but Gen as a plan.
We then see Gen meeting up with Eguchi at the park and there we see many people with issues as Eguchi doesn't help them. Eguchi wonders why Gen is helping anyone and then he replies by saying "I thought you looked up to heroes?" Eguchi though finally acts like a hero after he sees a girl who cannot reach her balloon. When he gets the balloon and gives it back to the girl it seems that it was Yuuki and all the other people were just the club members in disguises. The club congratulate him as Gen says he has reached the first part of being a hero and seeing his true self. There they talk about the side of him that loves heroes and how that pushed him to be a nicer person. Inside of Eguchi though is a dark side that came from the same desire and Gen says that Eguchi is Cygnus! He is confused, but Kengo shows him the footage Ryusei got and it seems no one, but only himself was there. It seems that when Eguchi got a switch and used it for the first time his personality was split into two. The dark side became more dormant and came out as Cygnus and this is how he saw all the things Cygnus did because they are the same person. Eguchi then takes out the switch to give it up as it goes into Last One. There he sees Cygnus trying to convince Eguchi to use it, but he doesn't need him anymore and he doesn't use the switch.
All seems good as Eguchi doesn't need the switch anymore, but Cancer appears and stops him from discarding it and takes him to the UDS. There they try to force Eguchi to press the switch as they want their hero to appear. Sadly the switch is pressed as Eguchi transforms into Cygnus, but this time black feather appear as Cygnus is in full control now. Hayami is impressed by the Zodiart persona taking over the human as Gen comes in on his bike. He transforms into Fourze and the first thing Cygnus does is use Misa as a human shield. The followers are shocked to see this, but he doesn't care because he can easily get more followers. Kengo then calls Gen with the Radar switch as he is told to use the 36 switch, Aero. It makes a gust of wind and with Cygnus distracted Gen uses Magic Hand to grab Misa away from Cygnus. Cancer already appears though and takes Gen on. Cygnus tries to walk away, but Meteor appears to fight him and you know things get serious when the music changes. The music is very dramatic as Meteor fights for payback as Cygnus lunges himself at Meteor, but he is easily beaten and kicked around as he is finished by Meteor's rider kick and he destroys the switch. Now back with Gen he finally gets the upper hand on Cancer as he uses the Winch switch to tie around his claw. With Fire States now it seems that Cancer cannot take on the heat as Eguchi soon appears to encourage Fourze. Before he could finish Cancer off though he retreat as Gen goes to help Eguchi. We end the episode seeing Eguchi cos-playing as Fourze now helping an old lady cross the street.
That's episode 24 and again this episode is strong because of it's writing. First Eguchi is a very interesting character because I wasn't expecting him to be Cygnus because of how Misa acted more like Cygnus. The whole dark side thing as been used a lot of times before, but something saves it though. Usually the dark side wins over, but that didn't happen originally as Eguchi fought off his dark side. It was the followers who made him became Cygnus which was very suspenseful I must say because seeing your own people technically trying to replace you is harsh. There weren't as many fights and the first one was just like last week with it showing how strong Cancer is, but the other two were great. First I will mention Fourze's comeback and it shows that Gen is learning good tactics with the switches and uses them very well which was a big flaw for the series back then. Also he didn't have to use Magnet States which I was expecting him to use, but not seeing it shows greater intelligence and kept that fight fresh since it was being used just to finish monsters off. There is one issue though the fight quickly made Cancer look weak because how he escaped because Gen just deactivated the switch as Kijima makes a run for it then. Then there is Meteor's fight, it was quick, but it was epic! I love the orchestrator music playing giving things more of a dramatic feel to it and seeing Meteor quickly defeating Cygnus just shows how much of a fraud he was. The ending of the episode was really bad though as it was way too quick, it's nice to see Eguchi acting more like a hero, but at least make the last scene longer than a minute. Overall a great episode with strong writing and messages and with some epic fights it was a great episode, an A-
Next Week: It's time to graduate!

My Thoughts
Of course I'm excited for Superhero Taisen, I love both of the series and to see them crossover like this is going to have epic moments, like Ichigo VS Aka Ranger! I loved the two episodes of Fourze because it had Nao who is a great actress and the reveal of the new Horoscope Cancer and his character was a very good surprise. I said before I want a mystical rider and I still stick with that because with Gobusters going back to bracelets and not the power in the pocket motif this could mean the rider franchise could change greatly. What more do I have to say about Gokaiger, it was an amazing series with one of the best heroes and episodes as I think it will be remembered for a long time. Akibaranger just catches my interest greatly because of the one guy two girl team, the heroes are very unusual, I like comedy and I think the series will be like Carranger with parodies, and finally its an adult series so with all those factors it makes me think about it more and more.

Gosei Sentai Dairanger Series Review

All the episodes have been subbed by fan sub groups and I was so happy to see more episodes of this series to be subbed. This is the Sentai series that only had the robots and monsters adapted into the second season of MMPR. The Dairanger suits never came to America, but only Kibaranger did, so did Saban make the right move with this? Well I think so the series is pretty violent and the fighting style of this team is completely different from Zyuranger. The show is about two clans reappearing after a war that has happened eight thousand years ago. The series mostly follows our heroes fighting the Gorma who have many secrets in their clan as they will all be revealed. With the help from Kaku five people get away from their normal lives to fight and have great skills in martial arts as every member as a different style. The series has a big Chinese motif to it so it references marital arts films a lot. The leader is Ryou who used to be an apprentice chief where he wanted to make the best Goyza. He has descendants from the Dai tribe and he soon finds secrets about his family and meets a great rival. Daigo is a man that owns a pet store as he seems to be a calm and gentle person, but when he fights he is one serious fighter you don't want to mess with. Along with his fight he finds love and tries to protect it. Shouji is a bold character who is comical, but also serious about his manhood he loves challenges and likes to play fair. With him he finds rivals that always cheat, but he bonds with them anyways and takes them on repetitively. Kazu is a hair stylist and he is a character who likes to think, but can just rush into battle. He is a very suave man and was actually a country boy from before who ran from home and now turns into a city boy and in his adventure he meets a new friend with a strange connection to the Dai tribe. Lin is a girl from college as she is Kaku's nephew and by her outside appearance she seems shy, but like Daigo the battlefield changes her completely as she meets a boy with a dark past. That boy is Kou who becomes Kibaranger and his past connects to Shadam a commander in the Gorma and soon his dark past is revealed and he will loss many things.
Pros- I love the motif this series has because it is constantly used because of the many different styles of fighting each member has and even villains have some of their own moves. The plot is actually great as it connects more with the villains and the conspiracies hidden in their clan. I love the cast of heroes as they all have some branching part about themselves and have great focus episodes. The fights in the series is a personal favorite of mine and not only because they follow real techniques. There are some great out of suit fights and one on one fights which really shows the strength each team member has. Has I said before every member has a set of focus episodes and are all great I love that each character has some sort of challenge and can learn from their fights. I love the villains in this series, except one, but that will be for later. The Gorma are a very well done set of villains as some are just plainly evil, but there are some good ones who are soon have to fight. Even a human gets involved with the war and becomes one of the best rival characters in sentai IMO. The robots in this series and their fights are great because I think the 90's has some of the best robot fights. Dairanger marked the solo red robot which is being seen in Gobusters. Shadam is mostly the main villain and he does so much that it amazes me how much he does and all for one single goal.
He actually gets adpated into MMPR as Mondo
Cons-With all the great characters there is some flops, first is Kazu and the only reason is because he gets ignored, but when he gets an episodes it's great. In the villains I hate Gara and her connection with Daigo's love story was starting out good, but it ends up really lame. I really it was just plainly horrible how cliche it got and the character Kujaku was great, it's said she was paired with Gara. Along with Gara there are just some strange minor villains, but that can be good at times. Kou is the sixth ranger, but he suffers from what Kazu had which was he was ignored, but not as badly. Kou gets probably better episodes than Kazu and his character is important to the story. The ending of the series is also kinda eh, I don't want to say much about it, but if you saw it you know what I'm talking about.
I mean really what kind of monster is that?!
Overall- Even with one bad villain and some bad minor villains, this is a must watch for Sentai fans. The series actually starts some big things for the franchise like the suit less role call and made out of suit fights amazing! Each character has a part in the story if its big or not and there are many more villains to love than hate. With the great fights, characters, and story this is one of my favorite sentai and I can't decide which one I like more Gokaiger or Dairanger! Well this show gets an A+ If you love martial arts film there will be many things you will love.
I will keep with this as well, Ryou is the most bad-ass red warriors of the franchise. Also Daigo is one of the greatest green warriors, heck every member is one of the best in their categories!

Kamen Rider Fourze Episode 23 Review: In the Name of Love and Righteousness

Opening the episode we see two guys on a motorbike robbing from a woman. They succeed, but then a mysterious figure gets in their way. It appears to be a Zodiart and calls itselfr Cygnus, the swan of justice! Also this Zodiart has been becoming more popular as students in the school talk about the swan. The gang overhear though and think that the hero in the white suit is Fourze. All of a sudden then a man comes in and is dressed like Cygnus and even recites the roll call. Confused why the boy is dressed up they are told about the hero Cygnus and Ryusei wonders if it's another rider. The other boy then gives out flyers for the Ugly Duck Society as they honor Cygnus and Gen wants to see if he can meet him. Yuuki and Ryusei tag along, but then Tomoko is dragged into this as well when she tries to talk about the new roid with Kengo. Kengo tries to get them back because of a new switch, number 35, but it doesn't work out as he clicks the switch. With the villains we see Gamou making Cancer a member of the Horoscopes. There Kijima goes back to normal and talks with Hayami about him being a Zodiart. Hayami tries to take Kijima with him so he could teach him how to find new members, but he rejects the offer because they are equals now.
In the Rabbit Hutch, JK is talking about the UDS and they are increasing in members. Their motto is "You can be a hero too!" Miu sees this as a rip off of the Kamen Rider Club, but it's just a fan club as explained by Kengo. He also mentions about the new switch, Giant Foot and when Jake talks about it Shun thinks they were talking about his feet. It seems that his mother got the wrong sized shows for him as he complains about it, but Miu stops him. There they decide to take interest in the club since this hero could be a Zodiart. Next we see the fan talk about his get up as he was saved by Cygnus from three muggers. The boy also wants to become a hero like Cygnus which explains the costume. Ohsugi is then around as he drops a bunch of papers as the gang help, but the fan boy doesn't... (some hero he is). When Ohsugi is picking up the papers, Cancer appears! After Ohsugi and the two fans boys run away, Kijima goes back to normal as he wanted to give "thanks" to the gang for helping him reach to this power. He also has a bone to pick with Ryusei because he was the one who revealed his identity from before. Gen though challenges him and before he transforms we see his test score is 4!
Well... the two start to fight and we already see his abilities as he can cut throw solid steel! Fourze tries to use the Hammer, Chainsaw, and Drill switch, but none of them can't even damage Cancer's skin. Gen uses Magnet States and tries to shoot at him, but even that doesn't work! With things looking bad Ryusei thinks of entering the fight, but Cygnus appears. He helps Gen with his fight and Cygnus is a good fighter that Kijima calls it a day, but not before one of his jokes. Gen thanks Cygnus for his help and compliments him and the same goes for Cygnus as he gives Fourze 30 points (out of what though?). Gen tries to befriend the hero, but Cygnus says he must walk a lonely road as he is a hero. Gen won't give up though as he is very impressed with the new hero. Ryusei has his concerns though as he thinks a heroic Zodiart is mostly impossible. The gang then get to the Narumi Detective Agency! Wait wrong show, I mean the Ugly Duck Society and when they enter they see a ballerina giving a performance. She is the president of the club and after her performance she notices Eguchi (finally we get his name!). Misa isn't happy though as she wonders why he is late as he shows her the gang. There she starts to label the team as Gen is a punk, Yuuki is an idiot (agree), Tomoko is a goth, and Ryusei is a hottie. She also says that are not good enough to be part of the club and tells them to leave.
Gen doesn't want to go though as he will befriend Cygnus and that desire lets the gang be able to observe them and he gets 20 points (sounds familiar). The group start with each member talking about their heroic deeds and Misa gives them points for their heroism. Eguchi mentions that he didn't help Ohsugi with the paper issue, Misa isn't happy, but she gives him encouragement. The club then start to chant Cygnus' name and Gen and Yuuki are full of energy, but Ryusei leaves only to talk with Tachibana though. He asks him if a Zodiart can be a hero and Tachibana says its not that likely and tells him to not let his guard down. He comes back to see the club doing a dance as Ryusei sees this is idiotic. He exits though as he takes Tomoko out because she says she is sick. Misa tries to stop the two, but they go on anyways as she gives Ryusei a glare. With the club Jake finds out that Cygnus is more of a black swan as it only wants worshipers. Cygnus as already attacked people as well for not worshiping him as some people were majorly hurt by him. Kengo then grabs the new switch and heads for Gen and the others. With Tomoko I guess she made up the sickness because she says they were to ritualistic. Ryusei thinks it's odd for a goth to be saying that and she picks up on that very well. That sort of club reminds her of the witches from before as she remembers that latching onto someone won't make you strong.
Oh boy I already here the fan fiction
While the two were talking, Cygnus appears and like the Black Swan he is he attacks the two! Ryusei sees that the Zodiart just has a strange sense of justice. Tomoko uses the new foodroid and she tries to contact Gen, but he is too busy with his dance (how long does that go on for?). Cygnus easily throws the roid away and continue to attack Ryusei. He gets to serious though and give Cygnus a punch to the face and to fix that he acts like a coward and runs away. Tomoko is probably confused to see one great punch turn into kick and run and now Cygnus is going to attack her! She makes the roid get Gen and Ryusei transforms into Meteor. Cygnus thinks Meteor is no hero, but the same can be said about the guy who attacks innocent people. The roid gets to Gentarou and sprays it with a cold mist as they get the message that Tomoko and Ryusei are in danger. Meteor is easily beating up Cygnus though, but the so called hero uses Tomoko as a human shield. Meteor summons Mars and is going to attack, but he stops seeing that he could be softer than he thought. Cygnus tries to attack, but Meteor easily fights back as he uses Tomoko again! This time he threatens Meteor to not dodge anymore or Tomoko will get hurt. Cygnus then attacks Meteor and starts to stomp on his right hand as Tomoko screams for him to stop. Fourze gets in at the right time and sees the true side of Cygnus. Kengo comes always and gives him the new switch and with it he can summon a bigger foot to smash Cyngus, but that was just gravity mostly as the switch can tamper with it. Gen over does it though and doesn't notice that Cygnus made an escape and attacks. Cygnus thought Fourze was a hero, but now he sees that he needs to take his place.
That's episode 23 and I am really liking how the series is using justice a lot. This is mostly because people see justice in many different ways. With Gen he wants to protect people, Meteor is similar, but he will do whatever it takes to save someone, and now Cygnus sees that people should follow him as he thinks he is justice. I always like the corrupt hero as well and the show did good with it because we see him as a hero and then we see his true side. Another nice thing is that the so UDS is very similar to the witches from before, but just in a different manor and how Tomoko notices that shows she is beyond stuff like that. A lot of irony is even used in this episode like with Eguchi wanting to be a hero, but is too scared to do it. Also he is idolizing a person who has attacked innocent people. Cygnus also uses cheap moves in a fight so yea this guy is no hero at all! In his eyes though he is the absolute and all shall listen to him, I would really like to see this be the next Horoscope member because Gamou would easily change how it thinks. Ryusei was also in top form in this episode has we see that he does think like everyone else and wants to believe that a Zodiart can be good. He also starts to act more like a hero as he couldn't hurt Tomoko, its a good form a development for Ryusei has he will notice that he won't let his one goal overtake everything else. The fights were good, a fair amount of switches were used, but they were only there is show Cancer's impressive powers as none of them could hurt him. Reminding me of Cancer I am a little disappointed that he only shown up once to fight. Also the series keeps doing the quick cliffhangers that I mentioned before and I hope that will get fixed soon. Overall though a good episode that is strong from a writing viewpoint, an A-

Akibaranger: Characters and Devices

So these will be out heroes for the spin off series Akibaranger. I can't wait for this series! It looks so weird that it just keeps increasing my interest. First red is said to be a shy character so he could be like Wataru from Kiva and could change when he fights. The blue hero is a school student and I can guess she will be the calm and silent type of person. Then there is yellow, my goodness what a character! I had a feeling the yellow would be a very happy person, but wow. I can probably guess that she will have other outfits and I won't be surprised if some of them actually reference anime or any live action series. Then there are the Henshin devices as they are dolls again there is the otaku motif and it works greatly. The device will also turn into a gun and the team will have a car with a logo of the doll on it.

Next is the Professor and the villain of the series. Professor Hiroyo is the one who make the devices of course and she is the smart older sister type. She is also a prankster though and it is said that she wears glasses, but by the picture I don't see any. The villain is played by a porn star so I'm already seeing why the series has the higher rating. With her she seems like more of a tribute to Shocker mostly because of the Nazi like outfit she has on.

The show is going to premiere April 6th and hey it will be more of a risky series, but there have been mature toku shows that have done great. For example Garo is doing good as it has a sequel right now, but it is more of a serious series. This is going to be a comedy no doubt and I bet it will have some odd moments, probably some sex appeal, but hopefully those jokes can be done right and not just flash us for no reason. This show is just getting my interests more and more and I can't wait to see how it will turn out. What I'm expecting is a pretty vulgar series that will parody the Sentai franchise, so like Carranger, but not for kids. I will also follow this series, so I got three series I'm doing episode reviews on. Those reviews could come a little later than others though.

Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger!

This year there will be two Sentai series and the second one has been revealed! First I really like their name, in English they are called the Unofficial Squadron. Its a good pun name because they are a spin off series and at first by the very early pictures I thought this was going to be an anime. I'm glad though that the series will be a live action series and like Gobusters the series looks like it will have a lot of differences to previous sentai. I think that the series though will reference the past though because by the logo is reminds me of the showa era. The setting of this series is in a Akihabara Electric Town which explains their name again. In this town are tons of Otakus, but one day three people find out that something is coming to destroy the city! Now the three become heroes by devices from a smart yet beautiful genius. The show has two directors from previous toku, but from Kamen Rider series. They also have some anime directors and another thing with the show is that the base will be a Sentai Cafe which sounds like tons of screen time for references. Now on with the suits of this series, unlike some people I am liking the suits. Its very creative and different and I give credit to that and the hair design on the helmets is nice. I don't yellow though, I think it's only because of the pig tails and I'm not a fan of those. Overall I want to see this series because it interests me and its going to be a more mature series since kids under 15 are not allowed to see the preview screening.

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger Series Review

Well Gokaiger has ended and next week it will be Gobusters year as I hope this series will do great. It seems Gobusters will bring a lot of change to the franchise which feels right because Gokaiger was a huge anniversary series. Gokaiger takes place with our heroes going to Earth in the search of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. What they don't know is what happened in the past, their enemies the Zangyack attacked the Earth, but luckily the past 34 sentai all teamed up to fight. In the end they were ready to die for the Earth as they attempt an attack to use all of their powers. The attack works as the Zangyack fleet is destroyed and the warriors survive, but they have lost their powers. The pirates come to Earth and they have all the powers of the past warriors including their own. On Earth they see the Zangyack as a new fleet as come to Earth and seeing them attack the humans reminded them of the pain the Zangyack caused. They attack the Zangyack and win their first battle, but now they have gotten to much fame as bounties are put on them. The team now try to find anyway of finding the treasure and survive from the Zangyack attacking them. Along the way they will meet the past warriors as they will help them retrieve the great powers of the Sentai.
There are five members in the team and yes they are indeed aliens because they come from different planets. The leader is Marvelous and along with a cool jacket he is a completely awesome leader as he leads his team well. He knows how to fight as he mostly uses a gun and sword his style of fighting can look carefree at times which he can be at times. Like other past red warriors though his back story comes an important part of the plot as his past rival returns. He was originally part of the Red Pirates as he was with Aka Red and Basco as they went around space to find the Ranger Keys. Soon Basco betrays them though so he can have the keys for himself as he tries to turn them in. Marvelous escapes with the keys and Navi, but it seems that Aka Red didn't make it. When Basco comes back his personality changes greatly as he wants revenge for the death of Aka Red and won't have Basco get in the way of his dreams. When Marvelous was alone he started to recruit more team mates along the way. First is Joe who becomes Gokai Blue and he is the silent and tough guy like Abare Blue. He does have a soft spot though because of his past of being part of the Zangyack back then. He couldn't take it though and he tries to leave along with his friend Cid, but Cid is captured. Joe is left to fight alone, but Marve comes along and saves him and there he recruits him because of his skills. Luka was next as she was in poverty because of the Zangyack and she started to loss many things in her life. It mostly seems that she is greedy, but she has her own motives. One day she tries to steal from the Zangyack, but she is caught. While fighting the troops Marve and Joe helped out and she was recruited there. Doc was next, but his name is Don. He is mostly a coward who hates to fight, but one day he helps out the crew by doing simple chores and Marve is impressed by him and recruits him. Unlike the others though his fighting style is random and he just pulls things off. Ahim was a princess on her home planet, but it was destroyed by the Zangyack and she joins the team to give hope to any survivors. She may not seem like a fighter as she acts very friendly and even motherly, but when she fights she can really let loose. Finally is Gai who is a human as he gets his powers from past warriors who have died. He tries to become a member, but he has to impress the team first. He is also a complete fan of the Sentai as he knows all of them and when he meets any past heroes he freaks out.
Next are the villains as they are the Zangyack. An empire that controls the whole universe with an iron fist as they attack, enslave, and destroy many planets. The fleet that is sent to Earth is lead by Warz Gil who is the son of the Emperor. He mostly acts like a spoiled brat most of the time when his plans fail, but in soon time he starts to change. Barizorg is Gil's bodyguard as he mostly stays silent and remains a mystery, but who is he? Insarn is also a member as she mostly is there because she has knowledge in science and helps with making plans. To help as well is Damaras who is very protective of the prince and tries to keep him calm. New Zangyack members show up, but there isn't much to say about them its just the Emperor with one of his right hand men. The best villain though is Basco who is the rival of Marve as he finds a new partner, Sally a monkey like creature. When they first meet and has even more ranger keys as he summons past sixth rangers to fight the team. His style of living is that he has to lose something to gain anything which is why he tries to get rid of the Red Pirates so he could have the ranger keys and the treasure. He wants the treasure as well, but he will let the team do some of the work so he could just finish them off and just stop there.
Pros- This is an anniversary series not only does the team use past powers, but they also meet past warriors. These episodes are mostly tributes to the past as they use elements from those series. Each have some form of nostalgia to them as they can bring simple things or even jokes referencing the series. Heck even the main characters are tributes to the usual type of characters in Sentai. The series uses a lot of nostalgia which is the best part because they bring back many actors as this is the best way to use the nostalgia factor. Each episode also has an important fight that has the instrumental opening of the series play during the fights, it just brings a lot memories. I really like that the team still fight like themselves though, they may have different powers, but they still fight like themselves. The best example is Doc who has a very improved style of fighting and even with becoming different rangers he can still stick to his comedic fighting. Each character has a back story of some type and it makes you feel for the characters which is another great thing. This is probably the best cast I have seen, again these characters are tributes and even mix character traits which works very well and all the actors are great not a single bad one! The fights are simply amazing as its great to see the past powers be used in today's time and it keeps fights fresh as the team can think of many combinations. Basco is the best villain no doubt as he is tough and is a guy you love to hate. He is completely vile and he stays like that which is the best part!
They even teamed up with some past warriors!
Cons- Now the series didn't have tributes for every series, but I was expecting and anyways the series still wanted to focus on the story itself. The Zangyack are okay most of the time and they are only great in their final episodes, but they mostly just stay bland which is disappointing.
The biggest flaw of the series
Overall- Even with the Zangyack just acting like usual villains from the showa era the series is an absolute watch! Its one of the best Sentai... no one of the best Toku shows! The anniversary theme is heavily used and can bring nostalgic moments. The story still stays intact and so what the series didn't have a tribute for ever series they still got at least one actor from all 34 series! With that its better to see the series give focus on the story then the nostalgia. The nostalgia is very well done, but it shouldn't be the major focus its great to see that the series still carries it's own story. All the heroes are great and the rival villain Basco is simply amazing! This would be a great start to new fans because it shows what the series is like and can give interest in other series. In the end the series only big flaw are the main villains, but everything balances perfectly as we get great development and great tributes to the franchise. I will give it an A+ even with the Zangyack its a very little flaw because the series just has way too much stuff to love.

Gokaiger Episode 51 Review: Thank You Space Pirates (Spoiler Alert!!!!!)

The last episode begins with a recap of the previous episode where the gang make a comeback. After the usual opening to finales the team start to fight Dairando. The first attack is the Gokai Scramble, but Dairando easily blocks it away, but he is hit by Gai's Shooting Star attack. Things get interrupted though as the Zangyack fleet comes back and fires at the Gokaigers. Things don't look well as the team are knocked out of their transformations and the fleet start to destroy the city. Luckily though the Free Joker (Basco's ship) appears and Navi is piloting it?! She then goes full on into the battle with a barrier on the ship. Navi's brave move got Marvelous thinking of a plan to finish the fight, as they will use the Free Joker to ram the Gigant Horse. Since Marve thought of it he will go and Joe tells Gai to go with him. Dairando appears again as Marve and Gai leave and Joe takes initiative as the four transforms and fight. Somehow Marve and Gai get on the ship and Marve takes the lead as he takes the ship straight to the Gigant Horse. The barrier only protects the ship for a little while as it couldn't with stand all the attacks, but the first part of the plan works as the ship rams into the Gigant Horse.
After Marve tosses Navi out of the ship the two transform and get out before the Free Joker is destroyed. They then have to face a large swarm of Zangyack troops. Meanwhile Dairando seems to be winning his fight and the fleet is still continuing its onslaught. Gai and Marve reach up to the Emperor though as Gai attacks first, but he is blocked by Gil when he is still sitting down! Both of the heroes attack him, but he continues to block their attacks while still sitting! He finally gets out of his chair as Gai knocks him away with the Gold Mode. The two start to fight and Gil is still being the bad ass he is and gets Gai down, but while he was fighting Marve takes control of the ship. Gai was only distracting Gil for the meantime and Marve makes the ship fire away at the other ships and destroys the whole fleet! Dairando sees this and is shocked to see all of them get destroyed and the four see this as an opportunity. Joe transforms into Dekamaster and fires at Dairando's back. The others then transform into other extra heroes, Luka (Shinken Red Hime), Doc (Zuuban), and Ahim (Magi Mother). With the fleet gone Marve helps Gai in the fight, but Gil is still wrecking them. With the other four, Ahim uses a barrier to block an attack, Luka uses the Daizanto to fire at Dai, and Doc transforms into the sword form as Joe uses him. Joe uses both swords and uses Cid's special move and they finish Dairando with the Blue Charge from the Galleon Buster even with the team knocked out of their transformations.
Now with Dairando dead the only one left is Gil, but he is much tougher as he is easily beating up Gai and Marvelous. They try to block one of his attacks, but they are knocked back and Gai's Gold Mode cancels out. They get ready to use their Final Waves as the Emperor was expecting them to attack him, but they fire at computer and with that distraction the two finally get some hits on him. Gai even gets a stab on Gil and shoves him into the busted computer and they fire their Final Waves at him. With all the destruction though all the hardware around them start to explode and the ship starts to fall. The team see the falling ship and think the worse, but Marve and Gai saved themselves by using Gosei Red and Go-on Wings. It looks like they have won, but Gil is still alive and can still fight! Marve though says that they cannot be defeated because they have the powers of past warriors who protected this planet. The Emperor doesn't care about their speech and fires at them, but Gai and Marve block his attack. The team transform then and begin their role call as their helmets appear after they say their names.
AWESOME!!
The final fight begins and it starts out with Gai transforming into Gosei Knight as he blocks an attack. Marve turns into Aka Ranger while Joe is Dia Jack, but they are blocked. Doc who is Battle Kenya and Luka who is Vul Panther come in and still no hits and even Ahim can't make contact as Denji Pink. Gai who is still Knight tries to distract him while Marve becomes Bouken Red and Joe who turns into Tenma Ranger and try to attack him with rods. He still blocks their attacks and even with clone summoning attacks from Dyna Black (Doc) and Yellow Mask (Luka). Gai becomes Shurikenger and uses Flowering Drive while Ahim is Ninja White and uses Paper Crane Flock. Gil is still impressively blocking these attacks as he fires at the teams, but they easily dodge his attacks. Ahim becomes Goggle Pink and Luka becomes Five Yellow as they bind Gil's arms with their ribbons. They finally get a hit as Marve becomes Red Racer, Joe is Go-on Blue, and Doc is Black Turbo as they drift around him and bash him with their fists! The two girls then become Ptrea Ranger and Abare Yellow and use the Ptrea Arrow and Abalaser, but he just blocks again (dang he is good!). With Gingared (Marve) and Kuro Kishi (Gai) though they use Blazing Mane as Joe (Blue Three) and Doc (Change Griffin) fly at him and hit him. Then Red Hawk (Marve), Gao Yellow (Luka), and Pink Flash (Ahim) do the same after the two. Doc who is MegaBlack uses the Battle Rizer and Joe who is Go Blue uses the V Mode Bracelt to punch him. Ahim (Time Pink) uses the Vol Sniper while Luka (Yellow Lion) shoots with the Lion Bazooka. Then Gai (Kingranger) and Marve (Ohred) slash the Emperor up. The fight is still not over (which is not a bad thing just a lot to type) as the team go into Super Ranger! Marve becomes Hyper Shinkenred, Joe is Super Gosei Blue, Luka is Super Geki Yellow, Doc is Deka Green Swat Mode, Ahim is Legend Magi Pink, and Gai is in Gold Mode. First Doc fires at him as Joe, Ahim, and Luka blast and slash him. After Marve slashes Gil with the Kyoryumar (Still not a shark!) as he gives Gai a boost into the sky. With Gai in the air he uses Legend Crush on Gil. To finish things off the team combine their attacks to use Gokai Shooting Slash, but Gil still won't go down! Gai though jumps out after an attack with the Galleon Buster as he uses the Show Stopper Wave (Okay?) to finish Gil off for good!
The fight is finally over and the team has finally defeated the Zangyack! They are full of excitement, but they soon fall back to the ground because after a fight like that I would rest too. After several months we see the team getting some food at the restaurant from episode 1. There Luka is reading a newspaper with the news of the Zangyack starting to die out as they are separating. Gai then comes in saying he has made all of his goodbyes. The next goal now is the second greatest treasure in the universe, but the only clue they got is that its at the Zangyack's home planet. The team start to go to their ship, but all of a sudden an elementary class shows up who were in the first episode. They want their autographs for saving the world, but they respond saying that they didn't do any of that. They are space pirates and their only goal is treasure, but Gai will still give an autograph later. Before they leave though they decide to give back the Sentai Powers back to their original owners. We lastly see Akared on the ship as he nods to Marvelous and vanishes (is he alive?!). As they leave we see some of the past warriors getting their powers back. The last one we see is Akaranger! He says that they have done it and now its time for them to seize it for their sakes as he transforms and walks away. We then see our heroes going into space and heading for the Zangyack world (wait how is Gai going to breathe?!).
That's the end of Gokaiger and this episode was AMAZING! The end of the story is very nice as our heroes try to keep their images as pirates. I really loved them seeing past things from the first episode and seeing how they changed even though they don't want to appear as they did. The fights were simply flawless as the Emperor was a great fighter and that difficulty made the fights more suspenseful. The final fight had so many Ranger Keys used and it was awesome seeing many different powers work together. Also they finally used special forms of the warriors which again is AWESOME! Then we see more past warriors getting their powers back, sure they could have made episode appearances, but seeing them in the end credits was very nice. Overall this episode is a perfect end to the amazing series and like Double I'm going to miss it a lot. Great action, the characters are amazing as ever, and its a great ending, an A+
Next Week: Ready... Go!
